Paradise Lost - John Milton. 4/5
Amazingly written but I could never give it 5/5 because I disagree with some fundamental aspects of it: a) I wish Satan had remained as heroic as he was in the beginning b) Eve is so weak c) I thought more characters should have questioned God's reign d) Books XI and XII are not as interesting as the rest of the book in my opinion. -

Night's dawn trilogy - Peter Hamilton 5/5
So good my username is taken from it.
Spoiler:ShowQuite possibly my favorite book series ever due to a superb blend of characterization, very believable future science and tech, rich atmospheres and a realistic, gritty look into the human soul. The antagonistic force takes a bit of warming up to but becomes one of the coolest -

Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson - 3/5. I was expected something more but it was really emotionless and drab. Saved by a meaningful conclusion.
Now I'm reading First Love, Last Rites by Ian McEwan. I gather it's pretty different to his other works...Last edited by -aimz; 21-05-2012 at 17:42. -

Nappy Rash and The Russia House.
Nappy Rash- oh god, complete tosh! 2/5
The Russia House- pretty cool, didn't fall in love with it or anything, thought all the little mentions of glasnost etc were fun but a bit forced. Have no idea what the atmosphere was like at the time, though, so it might have been natural then. 4/5
