I'd imagine the culture at Gleacher is very good as teams will be very small (ie 4 people) as there are only around 30 people in the firm

Lazard may be very good, but I have heard that the culture is very tough and conservative. Apparently there is not much teamwork. So not sure if I would like to work there
I have heard/read positive things about Rothschild's and Houlihan Lokey's culture though. Does anyone know anything about the culture at Gleacher and Greenhill?
Lazard is like a developed world sweat shop.

Rothschild is full of posh ***** from the top private schools.

Greenhill have a nice top heavy structure, but still appear to be quite posh to me.

I have no experience of HL or Gleacher.

Don't know about Gleacher's culture in terms of personalities etc. but it is apparently very refined. Heavy Oxbridge-slant, situated a couple of blocks away from Pall Mall and all the clubs. That sort of thing.

I have a first round with Cornell later this week for GHL. Would really appreciate any input from others on their process.

Aside from the generic why M&A advisory, why GHL blah blah what should I expect from them?

Is it fair to assume that the numerical test will NOT be SHL and rather more taxing?

I withdrew due to accepting another offer, but expect a very technical interview. Make sure you can value a company; they do that all the day in M&A so if you don't know what DCF, or CCA are, then you won't get very far with a boutique.

    Comparative Company Analysis; http://www.ehow.com/way_5313708_comp...-analysis.html

Also look at comparative deal analysis.

Should I be able to go through a whole DCF analysis? Like working out discount weights using different methods eg. WACC?

Doubt you would be asked to actually work one out, even for graduate roles at boutiques (unless prior experience shows you have done one or you tell them you have done a DCF). You would just need to talk about how it is all done with WACC, NPV, time value of money, risk premium etc; not too much detail, but have an idea and be able to say how without numbers etc. I don't know any more than this anyway.

Hey guys, I had interviews with Houlihan as well as Rothschild, have never heard about Gleacher though. At Houlihan people were very friendly and welcoming, though they seemed quite ambitious. Most people were from top schools from the US and Europe: Wharton, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, LSE, LBS, HEC and INSEAD from what I can recall. Their office was very posh and luxurious, located at Pall Mall. However, the Rothschild premises where equally nice. At Rothschild, as someone else noted, I also got the impression that they were rather conservative and reserved (though some of them were friendly, so it might be only the ones I got to meet). At Rothschild most came from top European Unis (mostly from Oxbridge, Warwick and Imperial). Concerning the interview process itself, I was asked many behavioral questions (teamwork, persuasion, problem solving) as well as technical questions. Concerning the technical questions, be prepared to talk about valuing a company, the different methods to do this (know the multiples), the functions of a financial statement etc. Houlihan asked more technical questions than Rothschild, but since they are a reputable house for financial valuations and analysis, this is quite understandable. Also, be prepared to talk about your degree. Read the Vault Guide. Best of luck

Did you interviewed with HL for the 2012 Summer programme? If yes do you know at which stage are they now in the recruitment process?

    Thanks for sharing this anyway!

It was for the analyst programme. However, interviews for the summer analyst programme should be similar.

Means that they have a large proportion of their staff at senior levels, with fewer people at the junior levels.
