Had an interview at Brighton today. Got an unconditional offer for Digital Music & Sound Arts. Immediately found the nearest record store and splooged some cash on these:

Congrats!
Ahh need to listen to Black Sands Remixed.

How much can you get them for?
I've recent been thinking about collecting some vinyls, pretty much just for the sake of having them.
I don't really know much about it though, any advice when it comes to purchasing records and record players?

Not sure if you mean how much Black sands is, or how much vinyl is. That was £16.00 since it's a triple-LP. There's an EP with just 5 of the tracks, was going for a fiver. Typical new-release EPs are between £5 and £10. There's often stacks of backlog releases for like £1 each though, can often find some interesting stuff. Hell it's a fun way to kill an afternoon, and pretty rewarding if you stumble across something good.

Most stores have a few decks where you can sample the records before you buy, and you should always do this. Especially those that sell 2nd hand copies, since vinyl tends to degrade. Get to know the staff as well. If you frequent the place, the guys behind the counter will build a good idea of what you're into, and point you to good new releases, and maybe some oldies too. But since it's an expensive medium to buy, be picky.

Don't think I can comment on turntables though. Haven't had to shop for those myself.

Jazzy, dubsteppy house. A ridiculous description for a ridiculous track. un****ing real... The part at about 5 minutes is pure euphoria.

Well done mate. Is that undergrad or masters?

Surprised a bit by the done me wrong/bax ep, thought you would have gone with one of his other EPs afteryou said you prefer his other stuff? What are the other EPs apart from the black sands one?

Thanks! It's undergrad. Three of the five of us that were interviewed produce bass/house in various forms haha. Hoping they get on too, would be sick.

Yeah, I'm still kinda ambivalent on it. It's a monster as a club track, but not so great as a home listening thing. Shackleton is the same, works incredible given the right atmosphere. Would have gotten Wray & Neph/Square One if they had them in stock. I tend to buy vinyl on the basis that it plays out well anyway, rather than a personal listening thing. Either way, was a good buy at a fiver.

The white one is Joy O & Boddika - Froth, the one with the chicks head is Kuedo - Severant (absolutely mind-blowing album, seriously top 5 in the past few years).

Is anyone really feeling this? These two, off the EP have racked up over 50 plays in about 3 weeks on my last.fm. That's almost a record for me in about 3 weeks. Tracks don't usually have that much amount of plays in 3 months for me. Shows how good they are. Really can't rate the EP enough. Plus it's a free download from the record label site. Absolutely impossible to go wrong on imo. Also he's got some nice remixes on his soundcloud. Can't stress at how much i rate the EP though, it's brilliant.

I really like that Kuedo track too, time to find the album i think!
Some really good songs on this thread, glad someone set this up. Seem to have these 3 songs on a loop at the moment

Wow that kuedo track starts out nice and mellow and then explodes out of nowhere! Will check out the album in due course.

Welcome to the thread. Liking those tracks, especially the boddika one (apart from the MCing). Really liked the first half of the bwana track but then from 3 mins onwards the vocal becomes a bit cluttered with the 'Oh' sound being repeated too much.
Did a bit of a mix for a house party last night. Mosca and Maya went down pretty well heh.

Some Lone:

I don't even know what this one is, but I love it. Once the lead comes in, things get awesome.

I stumbled across this list of every essential mix a couple of months ago, just went back and listened to the Seth Troxler mix after the recent Maceo Plex mix.

Also been digging Bondax recently, nice future garage vibes.

Really liking Bondax, thanks for the share.

Yes! Just heard Lone's crystal caverns 1991 and am loving the old skool rave vibes.

Also, if you remember, we were talking about heartthrob a few weeks back. He's just released a minimal techno meets deep house track on Hot Creations:
^Checking it

Mosca's new housey track:

Mayyy have posted this before, but nevermind. Kinky as hell:
