Britains society is falling apart!!

Ive been quite disturbed lately by the extent of crimes occuring all over the country and these seem to becoming more numerous by the day. It seems to me that society is falling apart and the word community doesnt seem to exist. The riots in the summer was a perfect example of the disharmony and lack of respect. Today two people were stabbed on oxford street, a student was randomly shot dead in Manchester outside of Mcdonalds and a man was brutally stabbed to death on christmas day in Sussex. My biggest worry of these crimes are the randomness and ruthlessness of them, what can be done to solve these problems?

The falling apart of society often begins at the very top, but it is the bottom part that seems to come off the worst when things fall apart. The top merely attempt to conceal their degenerate behaviour through media lies, political propaganda and spin. The bottom revert to their own sort of crimes as a way of making sense of what they perceive to be a very unjust and unequal society and often a boring existence. All this is made worse by the people at the very top who appear to perpetuate their corrupt and violent behaviour without much repercussion. Many have no hope of getting to grips with what takes place further up the chain of command. Instead of looking up, they look down, usually on themselves, turn to drink, drugs and then crime. Whilst the very people who preside over the running of society at the very top continue with their programme of moulding society as they see fit.

Thats what I think, but most of the world is falling apart too :-(

Seems alright. This sort of stuff happens in the inner city, doesn't remotely affect me tbh.
Society's not falling apart.

Society is probably as advanced and progressive as it has ever been. The myth that everything was better in the "olden days" derives from the underreporting of serious crime.
The fact that these horrendous acts stand out so much makes clear how rare and unexpected they are. Society is pretty functional otherwise.

Like a nest of moths is functional in a wardrobe full of old clothes.

So... pretty functional?
I disagree.

Statistically, crime rates are falling according to both surveys (reported crime and BCS). The summer riots were nothing new - we have had disturbances in the past. Every country does. This whole idea that Britain is 'broken' is a myth.

i strongly believe it has a lot to do with family structures getting weaker over the years .... imo good strong parents/parent that is strict but fair = good future citizens
The divide between the rich and poor ever increases....
I've honestly had a lot of the same concerns lately in not just this circumstance but a refraint from socialising in person and manners as well, I'm not from an upperclass background so I don't believe this is why this stands out to me but In my opinion I belive people are feeling increasingly isolated through personal contact but also reaussured due to social networking and such if that makes sense. People are less likely to trust the local community than the internet. In addition I was completely frustrated by the amount of poeple shopping today, I work in retail and we were incredibly busy all day. On boxing day! Do people not have anything better to do than what they do everyday, go down to a local pub, go for a walk, have a meal, let your children play with their gifts, chat with your neighbours. Don't drag yourselves sale shopping at insane hours of the morning are you that desperate for these unnessentials or do we have nothing more invertive to do? But I think this could also be a minor reflectyion of the digital age, when children are raised on television and not appropriately aged products such as disney either but much heavier programmes. But yeah my rambling opinion.

'We' have become desensitised to the things that would previously have shocked us. So much so that 'we' are more attracted to sensationalist headlines, images, films etc etc. We have crept increasingly down a path of almost anything goes and anyone who challenges that is jumped on and labelled a prissy wimp. FFS, if the comments are true, people were trying to take photos or film the guy that was stabbed in Oxford Street. WTF is that all about? We reap what we sow

How dare you suggest such a thing to the TSR lefties! There is no way that 13 years of Labour, promoting single parent "families" were to blame for this, no matter how obvious it may be!........

Agreed, just as in Duchess of Malfi

"Considering duly, that a prince's court
Is like a common fountain, whence should flow
Pure silver drops in general, but if't chance
Some curs'd example poison't near the head,
Death and diseases through the whole land spread."

If there is corruption at the top it will eventually flow down to the bottom, its a fact of life..
