Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?Nope I'm not getting mixed up!(Original post by E.xaminer~)
passed first time -> crying eyes out-> rebook
Am I missing something, more likely you getting mixed up I think
It was okay, because I passed!! Didn't need to rebook

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?I reckon some other instructor thought that if she was crying then she must have failed (but in fact she was crying of joy) so he offered to re-book.(Original post by E.xaminer~)

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?
I failed on my first test and I thought I'd prepared myself because I have no self-confidence and believed I would fail anyway. But having to listen to the examiner as he went through my test was pretty hard since I was trying not to cry. Plus I could see my instructor watching us and I felt like I'd failed him as well.
When I passed on my second test though, it was such a relief. No more wasting money on driving lessons; it was over and done with. I was holding in my breath while the examiner was counting everything up though because I thought I'd failed over some of the silly mistakes I'd made, but hearing the words "you've passed" made my day. Felt kinda bad afterwards though because everyone else who had a test at the same time as me had failed and I knew how it felt to fail. -
Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?
I passed first time quite comfortably, so I already knew (pretty much) that I had passed when I finished.
Getting held up at 8 traffic lights AND for around 30 seconds whilst waiting to do my turn in the road helped as well
I still felt pretty relieved when she finally said I passed though!
Ok, topic for debate: do you think people who fail their drivers test more than 5/6 times should be allowed to continue taking the test? I saw someone else on this thread, and I know a friend, who passed after 7/8 attempts. My friend is literally **** at driving. She was driving with me and argued with me when I told her that she had her full-beams up in an approaching driver's eyes, and she's just hit a bollard today...

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel? She was crying with relief and her instructor took her tears to be tears of dismay, so assumed she failed..(Original post by E.xaminer~)

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?Pathetic... If you were a driving examiner, which you're not, you would not jeopardize your job by posting on a forum. If you are indeed a troll, it's a pretty pathetic attempt.(Original post by E.xaminer~)
Years on after passing my own driving test I am now on the opposing side, I am now and have been a driving test examiner for 5 years, I Judge the tests fairly, I wouldn't pass a bad driver because I like them and fail a good driver because I dislike them, I have to be true to my profession and the old myth that an examiner has to fail a small group of people each week is untrue, certainly from my experience, but I myself normally hand out passes rather than fails depending on how the learner drivers whilst in my company.
It feels great to ''pass'' someone their full UK license, at the same time it can totally rip me apart inside failing someone, but a job is a job.
How do you/did you feel after being told you passed/failed?
Shame, because the subject could be quite interesting. -

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel? For an examiner, you're not really sensitive are you? When I first had my driving test, I was told that I drove up to the test centre perfectly (bear in mind that it's 20 minutes away along the bypass and using roundabouts etc...) but when I was actually doing my test I did quite badly (I failed, miserably) - I'd put that down to nerves.
The amount of people I've seen on the road that are worse drivers than me really enrages me
- Oh, and the people who don't indicate on a roundabout! - You cost me some minor points

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?Yes, passed with Barry Percy. Seemed quite a nice man(Original post by E.xaminer~)
Hi, I remember on the Southport driving test center thread you said Roy Wong failed you, well have you passed yet and who with?
I failed with Roy and passed with John
I failed with Roy too, what a prick.

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?I know anybody who had to do that many tests would disagree with me, but its true that there must be a reason WHY they failed that many times. I know with some people the first time might be because their instructor put them in too early, and second perhaps because of nerves or a geniune mistake, but after that its a bit ridiculous - I mean, people shouldn't book other tests until they have sorted out the mistakes they made before. I failed my first test purely because of nerves, so I could book the second one straight away knowing that confidence was my only issue. My friend failed in her manoevres, and she waited a while before booking her second so that she could practise these more.(Original post by Architecture-er)

I didn't know Barry but hey, at least you pass

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?Except you can fail going into the test centre so focus on the road and not what may/may not be a sign you passed.(Original post by joshgoldman)
Well examiners usually count up the marks just as you're getting back to the test centre, and if you have passed, they usually reach in to their door's compartment to reach for the pass certificate. Sneaky tip

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?
I cried all three times. And I hate crying in public. The first time was the worst because I pretty much cried for the entire test (must have been awful for the examiner too!) but it got better each time. After the third I just thought "I cannot go through this again, that's it".

Re: When the Examiner says ''You Fail'' or you ''Pass'' how do you feel?No I don't. They don't just look at how many attempts and just pass you because you've taken the test 8 times. She must have driven well on her last attempt, they don't pass **** drivers for trying continually. She will have just had a good day that day. There are many drivers on the road that are crap, but they must have had a good day the day they sat their test.(Original post by Architecture-er)
