Do you straighten your hair everyday?
Ok even the hairdresser said that i have hair that needs straightening as its naturally a mess. The thing is I wash it everyday (i exercise everyday so have to) and am worried about damaging my hair through straightening it. I cant use heat protection spray (allergic rhinitis) so i use a serum with heat protection in instead.
Am I making a big deal of damage caused though i mean do most girls straighten everyday?
just wanted opinions... -
Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
I don't for two reasons. Firstly, I spend less than 5 minutes a day on my hair, once it's brushed and out my way then it's fine. Secondly, it's naturally straight so they make no difference.
My friend uses them a lot and her hair has become quite damaged and she gets lots of split ends. If you are going to straighten your hair daily then I'd suggest using the lowest heat setting you can and not over-straightening it. -

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
I used to...but my hair ended up really damaged
it was a bit of a cycle: over-straightneing ruined my hair, ruined hair looks a mess, so I straightened hair to make it not look a mess
thankfully I don't go out much, so over summer I just didn't straighten it at all, now my hair looks completely different & it looks good without straightening
could be the same for you if you've been straightening it for a long time?
If your hair's just naturally like that then maybe try some products to help smooth it out; might take a while...but reckon your hair'll probably end up worse if you straighten it every day...I also found learning to blow-dry it properly really helped

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
Nope, because I'm really lazy, but it is definitely bad for your hair to straighten it every day! Does it not help to comb it when it's wet and blow dry it into shape with one of those attachment thingies on the hairdryer? You could also use a shampoo/conditioner for frizzy hair; that's what I do- I recommend the Vo5 gloss me smoothly one which looks like this:

Definitely definitely don't straighten your hair everyday though because it's essentially burning your hairs each day

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
i usually straighten it when iv washed it, so about 2/3 times a week depending on what im up to. sometimes i really cant be bothered to straighten it cos its really thick shoulder length hair so it takes quite a bit of effort, so on those days i just bung it up in pigtails, which works well as it has to be up for placement so is pointless to really straighten it for work.

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
I have very curly hair and I straightened it most days for 4/5 years. The last few years it has barely grown at all (I mean literally a few inches if that) and it just snaps, breaks off and moults every day and every time I wash it. I went to the hairdresser the other day and she told me that I have absolutely destroyed my hair and that if it wasn't so thick I'd be lucky to have any left. If she were to cut off all the damaged bits I would have been left with a couple of inches of hair, if that.
This is why you definitely should not straighten your hair every day; it may seem like a good idea and the best scenario at the time, but you will without a doubt come to regret it ):
I've been using argan oil (you can get it on Amazon, £10 for 100ml) every day and it has been INCREDIBLE. I wrote a detailed blog about my experience with it so far here http://acciojellybean.tumblr.com/post/14785834515 if you are interested in having a read!
Hope it helps (: -

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?I have a bob style that needs straightening.(Original post by Sadsnail)
No, straightening every day will cause lots of damage.
Just put your hair on top of your head in a messy bun. Straighten for special occasions

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?honestly couldn't recommend it more! Totally worth the money in my opinion, and I noticed results after 2 days.(Original post by stayfitfreek)

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
Yeah, i do straighten my hair everyday cos it is naturally curly, like ringlets curly... and it doesn't dry out my hair really at all. I use a really good conditioner that is an anti-breakage one twice a week and it works really well
also my hair is thin so i just use it on the lowest heat setting and my hair still looks and feels healthy

Re: Do you straighten your hair everyday?
Why not use dry shampoo instead of having to wet your hair. Just put them in a tight bun whilst working out and use dry shampoo. Because not only straitening everyday will make your hair thinner and brittle washing your hair everyday is bad for your hair on it's own. You'll have to depend on expensive oils otherwise and even that wont fix damaged hair, only cutting them will.
