perhaps every time theres an important poll like this PMs should be sent to members asking them to vote (it would be much better if more people voted)
Reply 41
That's a good idea, Im pleased with the turnout of this poll, but full turnout would have made it better.

See? China promoting democracy. Countries change!

Sure you do, your police smirk when they choke an innocent woman to death at the back of their torture van.

China considers this to be an internal matter not answerable to the UN. However, further clarification and proof of the context of that picture would be useful.

It was taken at a Falun Gong demo outside the Chinese Liaison Office in Hong Kong.

China does not wish to discuss this here in a motion about Iran nor anywhere else in the UN. We would however point out that Falun Gong demos are banned in China and have been since 1999.

That would explain the police response then.

When is the Secretary-General likely to make a decision on the vote?

The Republic of Sierra Leone would like to know why this is being brought up in a discussion about Iran?

Back on topic, the Republic would like to know what is being done regarding this situation? As the poll turned out to be even, will the Secretary General vote?

In response to the "promoting democracy" comment from China.

We are awaiting his decision.

Although China may have made a comment that the representative for (wherever) found offensive, a thread about Iran is not the place to discuss it. Please form a new thread if you wish to discuss democracy.
OK, I've decided. Iran WILL be referred to the Security Council. Although it was a tough call, my reasoning is actually pretty simple: It is better to be safe than sorry.

Motion passed.

Will the SG create the thread in the SC or should China? And will the SC be made available for non SC member's viewing pleasure?
