Along the same lines as above guys, what're your estimated 'targets' for all of the areas you've signed up for?

As a side note, watched my first film of the year: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
I'm going to aim for about 50 books, and around 100 movies. Given I read about 3 books last year, it's going to be quite a marked increase (although I imagine my films should be around the same). :p:

Thanks for the friend request on goodreads!

Wow 50 books is a lot! I'm hoping for around 20?

Ditto. I've read a decent amount of my first book and watched two new movies today, so it's a good start.

First disappointment - Sky's (excellent) adaptation of Treasure Island doesn't appear to be on the TV tracker.

I'm definitely up for movies/books/music! Reading a couple great books right now, but I won't post up any details until I'm sure I can actually access the sites behind the Great Firewall (going to Shanghai to see my parents for a couple weeks).

I'm aiming for pretty much the same thing. I know it's going to be hard but this wouldn't be a challenge if it wasn't, huh? :p:

I've finished a book, watched two (awful) films and listened to a new cd. Great start, Jessica!

I like the idea of this! I've only signed up to the movies site so far, but will sign up to others as I begin to read more / watch TV shows etc.

Will be interesting to see how many people are still doing this a month or so's time.

Everything goes in this thread, or should we have individual threads for for each category? :holmes:

There is already the film society though.

I finally watch the Shawshank Redemption :moon:

Hmmm... I don't think I'd mind everyone just sharing their progress in a single thread, but I'll go with whatever the majority wishes.

Side note: I noticed you haven't seen Leon (according to your IMDB list). Just thought I'd recommend it: one of my favourite films

So just made a list of books and albums I haven't listened to before to read/listen to. Let's see how many I manage to do in the year

Can't be bothered with tracking TV and my video games will consist solely of FM and FIFA so I won't make one of those either.

    Movies
    Books

    LastFM

My LastFM is fairly misleading though as most of the time it seems to scrobble what it wants rather than everything I listen to.

There's probably no need for individual threads, as there is already the what film have you last watched (and similar for books, music and games) threads, and it'll probably be simpler to use this as a hub rather than spreading everything thinly.

Just watched my first film of the year and went to add it. Only 4 people before me had checked it.

It depends what you want from it. I really like mine; it's especially useful for reviewing purposes because it forces you to order your thoughts before you even get to writing it up, which lends itself to giving you a lot more structure. It also makes you fill out the sections for year etc., which is helpful for basic facts (as I usually end up with several tabs just with film info in them). Apart from that it's a nice formal thing to have; really, there's nothing there that you couldn't replicate with an ordinary piece of paper, but it's presented well and of a high quality that makes it fun to use.

I don't know how much they cost, and I don't know if I'd buy one with my own money, but I definitely like mine.

I'm up for doing the music and books. I didn't read that many books last year so I aim to make up for it in 2012.

In the last year I've read approximately 375 - 400 books (a book being defined minimally as one dramatic work or epic poem, etc), seen half as many previously unseen films, took on or revisited three languages at some point, and brushed up on my knowledge of art, theatre and history. I've also been cracking on with my painting, drawing, and been writing a helluva' lot in the past six months.

It's amazing what you can experience in what's a relatively short period of time.
Wow, this is inspiring to read! I wish I was more like this these days, but sadly I lack the motivation. Well, I have been watching a lot of films lately, since that doesn't require a lot of effort compared to reading books, making artwork and learning languages, all of which I'd like to try more of :yep:

I'm a little dissapointed with Icheckmovies as a website. There are a few films I've watched now which aren't listed on the site... so I cannot check them
