Has anyone read any Oscar Wilde, particularly 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', or anything else they can recommend?

It's on my to-read list, if you fancy coordinating
But no, sadly, I haven't yet.

I've just finished Dorian Gray a few days ago, unfortunately, but I highly recommend it. Great book. You could read that first, or maybe we could co-ordinate on 'The Importance of Being Earnest' also by Wilde. Most of his work is out of license, so you can get it for free online I think.

To the people doing tv, what are you 'checking'? Only shows you've newly discovered in 2012, previously unseen episodes of existing shows or just everything, even if you've seen it before?
I'm going to be checking shows that I newly discovered in 2012 and unseen episodes of existing shows. Its the best way for me to see what shows I have picked up during 2012.

I've downloaded 'The Importance of Being Earnet' so will definitely give them both a read; think 'Gulliver's Travels' is going to be next though

    I love this idea !

    Music: http://www.last.fm/user/Emmie3303
    Books: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/7361543-emma
    TV: http://followmy.tv/u/Emmie3303
    Film: http://www.icheckmovies.com/profiles/emmie3303/

I'm particularly liking the wasted time feature on the TV site; mine's a bit shameful at the moment :p:. I've only ticked/marked what I've seen/read/listened to in 2012 .

Currently wading through episodes of ER and reading Carry On, Jeeves.

I know, me too! I saw your post, thought I'd check and managed to get the books at sale price; checked back at about 00:30 and the prices had shot back up. So, really: thank you!

Ooh, we didn't get any the same..I think I missed looking at the sections you bought during my frenzied buying spree :p:
Yours all sound really interesting :yep:

    I got:

Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick

The Very Thought of You by Rosie Alison

The Unforgotten Coat by Frank Cottrell Boyce

As Good as God, as Clever as the Devil by Rodney Bolt

    Unique by Alison Allen-Gray

Off with their heads!: All the Cool Bits in British History by Martin Oliver

The Hangman's Daughter by Oliver Pötszch

Oh, and I bought this the other day:

    The Etymologican by Mark Forsyth
    That's great!!! No problem
It was great today to go back and see that some of the books I had bought had gone up from 99p to £8!

I was going to buy Nothing to Envy and The Very Thought of You, but I only had a £20 Kindle giftcard and two of the books I got weren't in the sale and were £5!!

Band of brothers is amazing. I heard the Pacific has more personal storylines? Band of brother's doesn't and each episode focuses normally either on a specific event from WWII or follows a specific person. If you do get to watch it I hope you enjoy it
Yer, the Pacific is about how the war affects each character more than anything. I'll be sure to watch it

Right signed up for all but the video games one as I know that one would be pathetic. Movies will be poor as well but more likely to actually get one. For all the lists I shall be doing it as those I have read/watched/listened to for the first time in 2012.

Snobbery. Why is theatre better than a movie or TV?
    It's a joke right?

Omg! I have War and Peace and it just looks far too intimidating to even start. I hear that you never actually appreciate it until your 3rd read through.
