But the big hits are rubbish except for a few from the early periods such as Beetles and Queen. Modern stuff is just Westlife, Spice Girls. Unless you like that stuff you're wasting your itme.

But if you want to drive around listening to "wannabe" by the Spice Girls go for it.

    a few...

    Turbonegro - Wasted Again
In Flames - Embody The Invisible
Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows
    Placebo - The Bitter End
Not sure they'd go down too well on a general purpose anthem style cd! A few good tracks but a bit... specialised.

Oh get over the fact that my taste in music is different to yours! The OP asked for the most popular R&B songs in the last couple of years and there they are. So pipe down!

It's not so much 'different', as unadulterated pig-fodder.

This really irritates me. Can't you accept that not everyone wants to listen to the same thing. It would be boring if everyone did. Why doesn't everyone just respect the choices of other people and leave it at that. The OP didn't ask for your opinions on the music, you're just posting to try and look intelligent: it just looks closed-minded.

No, really: everything you've listed there is s**t; there's absolutely no use trying to pretend otherwise.

No, really: at least I have the intellect to respect other people's choices and opinions.

Do you respect Hitler's 'choices' and 'opinions'?

An opinion is only as legitimate or meritorious as the facts on which it is predicated: to wit, I respect those that can concede the shortcomings of their genre whilst simultaneoisly deriving some form of satisfaction from it; much as I might someone who opts for 'fast' food notwithstanding, rather than in denial of, its demerits. However; my respect extends only to those that are at ease with their affinity for 'crap' music such as to render acknowledgement and acceptance (in spite) of the aforementioned defects, and not they who would purport otherwise.

In summation: I've no objection to your liking of 'R&B' per se, provided merely that you are able to recognise it for what it is: pre-packaged, re-hashed, fatuous, banal, insipid, homogenous dross. After all; aren't those, if nothing else, the characteristics principally attributable [liable] for its success?

Edit: Well; Lauryn Hill's seminal 'Doo Wop' excepted.

    Re: new cd
Some I have on various burned CDs are:
    Pink Floyd - The Wall
Bob Marley - Iron Lion Zion
    Billy Idol - White Wedding
Joan Jett - I love Rock and Roll
Aerosmith - Dude looks like a lady
Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit
Rolling Stones - Paint it black
    Tenacious D - Wonderboy
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Rollercoaster of Love (altho most Red Hot Chilli Peppers song rule - take your pick)

Some of these I know a lot of my friends hadn't heard of (sad or what) but they're great songs. Listen to them first, see what you think.

Now, that's more like it; although might I also recommend the Chilis' 'Road Trippin'' as a serviceable (not to mention, apposite) alternative.

    'Road Trippin
    Good choice.
I just go for Rollercoaster because of my current addiction to it (after watching Beavis and Butthead Do America I think) but like I said most of their songs are great I've burned Give it away, by the way, Zephyr song, Californication and Can't Stop onto CDs as well.

I have the best taste in music of anyone you'll never meet; which narrows things down, considerably.
