My advice, join a sports club; it's been the best part of my year by far.

If you don't play any sport currently, join hockey. Great club atmosphere, great socials and we cater to all abilities!

For everyone wondering about hull i just thought id post a few points from a student who has lived here all her life!

Hull gets bad press because as a place to visit its not very touristy and its fairly industrial having being built around the docks.....however, as a student im sure thats not what your interested in?!

Also, the night life in Hull isnt great at the minute......HOWEVER....the student scene is HUGE! Being a mature student i dont really get involved as im a bit old now, lol, but Hull Uni has its own nightclub and bars and Hull itself has loads of dedicated student nights and promotions so theres always loads going on!

Halls arnt near the Uni but they are walking distance or local buses run straight from them all day. Student accom (shared flats etc) literally take over the streets near uni so if you get into one of these you can litterally role out of bed into uni. They are near bars and LOADS of cheap takeaways and various other shops.

Getting into the city centre from Uni is a short bus ride and its pretty decent and they are working at making it better.

Also, Hull is safe! Like all citys there are dodgy area's but it is very rare you hear of any major incidents....

    Hope this helps

Taylor Court houses are on the same street as the University, in 5 minutes you can get to the ''centre of the campus'' (Brynmor Jones Library) but they are quite expensive compared to the houses around as far as I am aware (about £15 more/week) and there's not much extra comfort except you have the bathroom in your room.

The Lawns, the Thwaite Hall and Needler Hall are located in Cottingham which is a village near Hull.
This means you will have to use the bus to get to the University.
Add about £230/years for a bus pass.

Personally, I live close to the University and I rarely use buses..it's too much to wait for them.
Whenever I go out..I just walk. The only exception is when I go to the city centre (the Tesco Extra and Hull Paragon Station).

Student accom (shared flats etc) literally take over the streets near uni so if you get into one of these

Right! If you get one of these it should be easy for you..If you don't you'll have to enjoy either walking or paying for transport. You decide

    Totally agree

I've been living here for almost a year now and this academic year is almost over, but I still love it.

Although I'm a mature International student, living a 15 minute bike-ride away from uni with my husband, I'm glad to stay for another year to do an MA.

The University campus is awesome, the older buildings are beautiful and the people are all really friendly and helpful.
