Discussion for those studying in the United States and Canada

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012Arts undeclared, will be PolSci major. It was a deferred offer from last year so no big surprise :P(Original post by chad_bro_chill)
Congrats! What program? Is McGill your first choice? -

International decisions have been going for a while, anyone else heard? -
Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012Congratulation. I applied for the biological science and still waiting. My application indicated that it is "ready for review" but I don't know how long it would take for a decision to come out.(Original post by Ishamo)
Got my McGill offer on Saturday, anyone else?
Not sure my chance. I am taking IB (retake two subjects) and got overall 38 point (667 in HL) subjects.
Would you mind telling what program you are applied and your result?

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012
How lenient do you think McGill is for late applications?
Well I missed the deadline and I'm not sure if I should still submit my application, or just opt to apply for only UofT.
If McGill is strict on not accepting late applications I might as well save the application fees and apply elsewhere. -

Priority is given to processing applications that are received on time. Therefore, decisions on late applications will be made as time permits after the dates listed above." -
Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012With 38 you will be fine, I would be very surprised if you didn't get an offer with that. I got into arts predicted 36, got 35 in the finals (damn IA's).(Original post by ccdlau)

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012Thanks for your reply. I worried my grade in retake would affect my admission. How long would a decision to be made after the status changes to "ready for review"? Waiting is very painful....(Original post by Ishamo)

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012Mine was about 2 weeks after changing to ready for review, however I have heard of it being both much longer and much faster... it's pretty much guesswork. Goodluck.(Original post by ccdlau)

Ok, I'll be sure to do that
What course are you applying for, if you don't mind my asking?
I'm going for Physics
I'm doing Edexcel a levels too- predicted A A A*. Still waiting on the answer, I applied early/mid October. I wanna know the answer already!! -

I did A Level Math ( C1,C2,C3,C4,FP1 and FP2 )
On the student profile form, where I enter my grades, there are options for
'Pure and Applied Math', 'Math', and 'Other Math.' Which one do i fill in?

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012OMG ME TOO! I'm doing Chemistry, Maths and Physics.(Original post by marianne940)

(I wanted to do Further Maths but my school didn't offer it...I should have studied it by myself and ask my Math teachers questions. T_T My friend did that and she doesn't even need FM!)
I haven't submitted my documents though. I've prepared them all in a folder, but I'm under the impression I need to wait till the January exams results come out in March and then submit everything at one go...?

The deadline for submitting the documents is on the 15th of March and the A level Jan exams results comes out on the 8th.

What did you do? Did you just submit your GCSE's and AS levels results?
...sorry for the long post.

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012The best school in Canada is actually University of Toronto. Mcgill doesn't come close.(Original post by hoopla dog)
Go to McGill since its the best school in Canada
Go to UofT if you want to be a statistic among thousands (and be surrounded by asians [not being racist I have nothing against asians]) -

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012I didn't think that was really necessary :s I applied in September and sent off my docs then too. It does say on the site "you will be considered on your AS grades and predicted A2 grades", so I don't think they need to see your modular grades!(Original post by sevenbooks)

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012Wow that's awesome! Well think of it like this: you'll have more time to concentrate on your other subjects. I submitted my docs a few weeks ago (even though I had an exam 2 days ago) just to be on the safe side. I don't think you need to send them the january results at this stage, but as long as you send everything off before the deadline it should be fine.(Original post by sevenbooks)

Yeah I submitted everything - GCSEs AND AS levels. Have you applied to English unis? -
Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012
I applied for an Arts Degree in September, no email but my status on Minerva has changed to Admitted Pending Final Results.
I was wondering what it means when it says I have to 'maintain my current academic performance'? Does this mean I have to achieve my predicted grades in order to actually be admitted? Or is there a bare minimum I must achieve? What if I ended up with BBB this summer? Would this mean my offer would be revoked?Last edited by Remy-Rae; 08-02-2012 at 23:35. -
Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012No one really knows what "maintain academic performance" means in terms of specifics. But generally, unless your grades drop significantly from your predictions... you will maintain your offer.(Original post by Remy-Rae)

Re: McGill and UofT Applicants 2012Yes, you have about a 12% chance of receiving the highest bursary...(Original post by katiesonicboom)
I got admitted pending final results too, the price of it all, including accommodation, flights etc, scares me a little though, especially since they do automatically offer you loans.I think I will decide to stay in europe. Anybody knows anything about the process of applying for bursaries and what are the chances of receiving the highest one?
Seriously, how do you expect us to answer that when we don't even know anything about your background, what schools and programs your applying to, and what bursaries you are talking about...
