Reproductive: birth rate is at an all time low and women are not simply 'instruments of production' (Marx- Communist manifesto)
Economic- division of labour is more equal now as wilmott and young found 72% of men help and not the clear division of labour
educational: other institutions have took over this as Parsons himself said since industrialisaton schools perform socialization as it that can train potential workers
Plus, murdock only looked at nuclear but this is incorrect for both femenists and when we see the higr diversity concerning families
thanks for that but i dont understand the economic?? part what you said? isnt it not the welfare help provide - just looked at a book

You are so going to get full marks on this exam!!! you know everything so well - im scared!

WHy do people want social policy i hate that lol theres nothing to write about, remind me what it is?

also , how can i criticise Murock 4 functions , economic, reproductive, sexual and the other one! i need help !!!
Murdock believes nuclear family is best and performs 4 functions. But these can be done in other ways.

    Economic Provision
    - State benfits
    - Equal pay act = women earn equally to men. Thus can provide for a family.

    Primary Socialisation
    - In lone parent families where the parent is at work, mostly performed by nurseries, child minders etc.

    Stabilisation of the sex drive
    - Hired escorts

    I've virtually learnt everything myself.

Been revising since first week of December.

My teachers arent brilliant, so needs must eh?

Ask me any question, and Ill most likely know the answer.

Im just not very good on remembering the names of Sociologists though. Everything else, and im on par!

    Best of luck!

I don't know any of their names either. I'm quite excited for this exam? How strange of me. But yeh good luck to you too! Shouldn't be too difficult. My friend completed it last year with 100% and attended half the classes and did no revision. I guess some people have the natural brains eh? Hope you achieve your grades xx

Apparently the Chief Examiner is a huge fan of the "Childhood" topic so it would make a lot of sense to revise that in great detail. I've noticed the social trends questions have been quite common recently, and remember we got a Femenism question last Summer.

In my opinion, it would make most sense to revise the theory (Functionalist, Marxist and Femenist approaches) and what they say about the family. It would be good to look at whether the nuclear family is the norm or not aswell. I really do think we'll get a Childhood question too, so let's wait and see!

I did the exam last Summer and got a B on Unit 1. I only dropped two marks in Unit 2 though (and averaged an A), so I'm resitting this unit to try and pull it up even further!
    Good luck!

Nothing like sitting on TSR the night before your exam, and seeing all the lunatics going nuts.
