Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the interview format at Renaissance (1st Round) or the Crown Office Row (Brighton - 2nd Round). Both say to arrive 15min before hand and Renaissance specifically say that this is in order to prepare a set question. Bit stuck as to how to prep. Any guidance would be very gratefully received.

If no one ends up replying specifically about those chambers, I would just make sure you know how to do the usual advocacy exercises (ie plea in mitigation, bail app, set aside default judgment) and read up on what's happening in the news at the moment (Barclays, leveson, Syria etc) and be prepared to say what you think about what's happening with those things, backing up your arguments.

Hope someone who's actually interviewed there can help but if not there not much more than the above that you can do in my opinion.

Would you mind saying how you found out about 2nd round at 4-5? I'm hoping that however it is it might be in batches.

I'm still 'under consideration' but when I click on it it says 'decision made on 3rd July'. This implies that the person on TPP wasn't lying as there was clearly some activity yesterday- hopefully they're sending them out in batches. If I don't hear anything over the next few days I'll give them a ring.

36 Bedford Row interview invite at 13.00 by email. Interviews scheduled for the weekend of the 14th.

Re Guildhall, if second round invites did all go out yesterday, I think it's pretty poor form they've not let the rest of us know. They've basically warned us to keep 3 days available next week. I'm not local so I've booked time off work provisionally. The closer it gets, the more difficult it will be to change my work plans!

I e-mailed them yesterday to ask the same question, the reply is below:

'Dear X

Thank you for your email. The Committee is hoping to advise candidates hopefully by the end of this week, but if not then certainly next week. 2nd round interviews will definitely take place before the end of July.

Yeh, I didn't think that would be their style. Also it's a bit mysterious how there only seems to be one person who has a second round, when Chambers told me that they would invite approximately a dozen candidates back. They said they had around 60 for first rounds.
