    I know both of you put in Maxiraw orders - have you received yours yet?

    Put mine in on Monday and not heard anything yet (their initial email said i'd be email when it's dispatched). I did choose the free delivery option mind, but I just run out of powder this morning.

    Mine was going to be delivered today but i was in the lab so got it defered to monday when i will be around in the afternoon.

    Was going to say to PM the MaxiRaw account on here but seen he's already posted in this thread.

    CJ, it should be with u by now, what's your order number and will check it Monday. Sometimes security details need to be verified an consequently orders are put on hold and customers are contacted.

    As I said, PM me your order no and I'll check as it should definitely be with you if you ordered Monday.
    Hey, thanks. I'll drop you the order number now. Cheers

    Got a call from someone at Maxiraw and all sorted out :yy:

    ==Day 13==

    Went in on Saturday and did some chest. Felt good, got a bit ahead of myself on the barbell @70kg - didn't feel bad but I should've come in lighter. Worked at 65 and 60 and felt good. Did some wide grip incline on the smith too which was also good. Dips finished me off.
    Did some ab work also. Tough, what a horrible feeling that is :lol: but enjoyed it when I was finished.

    ==Day 14==

    Rested, watched the footie on TV and winced at Spurs inability to do us a favour. Good diet over the weekend.

    Seem to have aquired hip pain overnight. Not really what I need right now, along with the general dull aching my legs still seem to have. Will go for a walk at lunch and hope to walk it off before deadlifting tonight. Would like to better the 90 x 8 x 4 from last week and *fingers crossed* not have such a bad back for as long as I did last week.

    Oh, and remember:
    (Original post by CJ)
    Why is it that when you're dieting, suddenly people are bringing in homemade treats and offering them around on an almost a daily basis :hmpf: Today someone at work has brought in cinnamon rolls We had shop bought cookies and homemade fruit cake at the end of last week.
    Give me a break!

    ==Day 15==

    I wasn't looking forward to deadlifting, as my legs still seemed to ache. But put that out of my head, did a lot of stretching and had a good session.

    60kg x 8
    80kg x 8
    90kg x 8
    100kg x 8 x 2
    90kg x 8 x 2
    80kg x 8 x 2

    I really enjoyed that. I geared myself up mentally as if the 100 was going to be the heaviest thing in the world, when infact it felt very light. It was the volume that tired me out - i'd love to do some 1RM stuff at some point, or at least lower volume and see what numbers i'm capable of. I was wondering whether to do a 3rd set at 100 but I could feel my back a little and wanted to go easy considering the effect last time. Will be my goal next time (along with not stopping to gulp air).

    Then did some 30kg good mornings x 15 x 2. Dead easy, nice stretch out. Then various other bits of backwork and shrugs.

    ==Day 16==

    Set me alarm for 6am and intended to get up and go to the gym early. Didn't happen. I woke up but felt my legs and back weren't fit for cardio. Rolled back over and went to sleep.

    Until next Monday my routine, both workout and diet is going to be mish mash. I'm going back home tonight for a birthday weekend, so expect cake, going out for a meal and generally having food in endless supply at my parents. Will do my very best, take my running shoes and set up the work bench and weights I have there. 5 day bulk I reckon :lol:

    Might want to lower the reps a bit for deadlifts, only that I find for much more than 5 reps my form goes to pieces - although more power to you if you can completely maintain it.

    Might find you get better progress working up to a heavy 1x5 set too.

    and hey enjoy the birthday weekend, just treat it as 5 days off and get back on the wagon as soon as you're back and it'll hardly make a difference at all.

    Yeah I think I'll be doing that next time. I always chalk up and grip is never a problem (it used to be), it's just the cardio side of things from the volume.

    And yeah, my form for the last couple of rep's when my back was getting tired was becoming dubious.
    So 5 rep's it is! Would love to start upping the weight if i'm honest.

    And cheers, it's usually a mental nagging more than anything if I cheat. At least if I do a little bit of working out i'll feel happier about myself

    Fast forward...

    ==Day 23==

    I had a great birthday weekend. This meant home cooked food, cake, eating out...

    I'd be lying if I said it hasn't affected my attitude. A little bit of "what's the point" going on, so got down the gym and did what I had to do last night. I took Monday off because I didn't feel too great and had a late meeting.

    Also left my running shoes back home so no treadmill for a while. Not sure if my spare Lonsdale's are any good, haven't used them in ages and seem to remember they hurt my feet running... we'll see. Else it's rowing/biking.

    Deadlifting

    60 x 5
    90 x 5
    100 x 5
    110 x 5 x 3
    100 x 5 x 2
    60 x 5

    Working more with 5 reps rather than 8. Liked that better, it felt good and not too difficult in the actual lift - when i'd finish and try and walk I was a bit wobbly, mind :lol: Will up the weight next time.

    Good mornings - 40kg x 12 x 3

    Felt good, could likely go heavier but not next time.

    Various rows, pulldowns and shrugs to finish. Felt pretty decent and I actually feel like cobwebs have been blown off now, and whilst I won't get much stronger, i'm not a weak as I was feeling a few weeks ago.

    Since Monday was a day off, i'll be in on chest tonight. Let's do it!

    ==Day 24==

    Weighed in at end of workout: 175lbs - so have remained static since 12 days ago. Not a surprise, just glad I hadn't put on weight! Was half expecting to see a number I really didn't want to see, but I can definitely live with that

    Chest + Cardio

    Felt really good actually. 28kg on the flat x 8 x 3, some incline flies and pause pressing at 20kg felt good as well.
    Did some cable work, then came back on the press machine after cardio.

    Cardio was rowing (alright but dead boring) and biking (ditto) for just over 30 mins. Got bored of that rather quickly. I miss my running shoes

    Shoulders and arms tonight, then up early for legs Friday. Not sure if i'll be doing squats as my back isn't particulalrly happy, with one less day to recover than normal.

    Oh ****, I totally didn't realise I forgot to update recently

    ==Day 29==

    I keep having waves of thinking i'm making progress, the other times I think i'm not getting anywhere. I may do a progress update at some point and try and see properly.

    Deadlifts last night ok. Bit too much pausing though, maybe because I didn't have my chalk and my left hand started to burn.

    60kg x 5
    90kg x 5
    110kg x 5 x 3
    90 x 5 x 3
    60kg x 5

    Good mornings 40kg x 15 x 3 made sure I had a sweat on. Rows, pulldowns and shrugs to finish off.
    Will put the weight up next week assuming I have my chalk.
    Will also weigh myself at the end of the week, fingers crossed to be down a couple of lbs.

    Chest and cardio tonight, hate doing cardio that's not running!

    ==Day 30==

    Really good chest session last night. Again it was only on DB's and cables but felt great.

    Flat press - 28kg x 8 x 4
    Incline flies - 20kg x 8 x 4
    Incline pause pressing - 20kg x 8 x 3
    Flat hammer press - 20kg x 7

    Tired. Incredibly slow down and ~3 second pause on inclie pressing felt awesome. Little bit of cable work to finish.

    Bit of rowing, bit of cross trainer and a bit of biking for cardio. Not really enjoying it, miss running.

    Rest today and unlikely to be in the gym tomorrow due to having to go to London all day. Early Friday morning legs workout next then. Time to get squatting.

    No training until next Monday, which will have to be early morning. Boo.

    I must've shivered a few cals away yesterday as well as undereating somewhat.

    Am starting to see that there is a definite difference now, just need to keep at it and doing what i'm doing. Next week will be a bitch gym-wise though... Tues/Weds/Thurs in London. Will still take my gym gear and will workout, even if it's late as hell.

    Being cold is a great calorie burner. I have cold showers and they supposedly burn 300-500 calories, a shower a day is a lb of fat a week gone. Once you get through the first 10 secs you're fine.

    Is this really true? :eek: that might explain why I've lost so much weight recently otherwise, I'm always friggin cold! :huff:

    Nope, it's not true. Nothing like 300-500 anyway, maybe 50-70 in a long, very cold (i.e. just above celcius) shower.

    To burn any real number of calories you would have to spend much of the day in water, which you'd only be able to do at, well, at least 20C+.

    Cold water also reduces leptin levels, making you feel hungrier. (Your body feels cold -> reduces leptin -> you eat to store more fat to protect you from cold)

    The study people misquote for that ridiculous 300-500kcal number is this one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/pp...es/PMC2258415/

    People kept in a 16 degree room for an entire day burned on average 70kcals more than those kept at a normal room temperature. For one of the subjects it was something like 400 kcals though, for whatever reason.

    So if you stay cool all day, you'll burn a whopping extra 490 calories a week. Or 1lb of weight every 7 weeks.

    Cold showers do have other positive effects though, they've been proven to elevate testosterone levels and improve your immune system, for example.
