Well they kind of mean slightly different things.

Through my life I've swung from one extreme to the other. Basically never doing anything and worrying about the consequnces, to being extremley impulsive and really messing things up for myself. So the watch is there to remind myself that life is finitie, time is ticking, you have to make things happen. And the infinity to say two things. One that every decision you make is there forever, can't be undone, and two also that life goes on, with or without me. The two kind of balance my personality out.
Sounds like you've given the meaning of them enough thought, but are quite vague on how you want the watch to look. You've said you'd like text with it, but saying what? I think you should get a much clearer idea of what you want before you get anything done, and don't feel pressured to have it prepared before your birthday.

SO I'm planning on getting a tattoo for my 18th with a mate. Well, two actually. The only thing is, they've not got a huge amount of meaning behind them, they're just things I like.

So I have a couple of questions to people on TSR in general, but mainly to those with Tats. Firstly, do your tats have meaning behind them? Do you attach any importance to that, bearing in mind they're there for life? And does anyone regret theirs?

If anyone's interested I'm looking to get some kind of clock, probably a stylised pocketwatch on my chest, with some text. Mainly because I'm someone that is mostly content to let time pass me by, just plod along and I want it there as a reminder that I don;t have all the time in the world. And also a little infinity symbol on my wrist/ankle or foot, because of some meaning to it when I was younger, plus I just like the aesthetic of it.
hahaha I noticed that you are from gloucestershire too!

I have 3 tattoos now - I would advise you to get things that mean something to you

my whole upper left arm is dedicated to my love of animals (so far tiger)

and my whole upper right arm will be full of tribal designs (so far cross and skull piece)

I've got 11 tattoos, some of which are pretty ****ing large.

I only have a slight amount of regret for two of my tattoos, and it is only a slight bit. But the two I have regrets about are the only two I would consider having meaning. Meanings change over time, the others I have are all ones I find aesthetically pleasing and have zero meaning other than the fact I like the style and design, and some of those have been there for over 7 years now and I haven't got any sort of regrets for those ones. Make of that wha you will

Personal opinion, don't get the infinity symbol. One of my first was a small ankle tattoo that had "meaning", now I just think it's a boring tattoo tbh

I have 3 tattoos none with like massive meaning, I got a flower on my back which I eventually want extending got at it as a 18th birthday present so that has some meaning, I got a swallow on my foot which again I want extending I got that because I kind of like things representing sailor's that sort of stuff, and me and my friend got hearts on our wrists just because.

But I like that if needs be I can always cover them up, especially when it comes to job interviews.

The next one I want though is a thigh piece though kind of working out what I want so not rushing into it, which I think if you are unsure as to what you should get give it more thought draw up some ideas that sort of stuff.
Also I don't regret them and don't think I ever will, but if I do then I cover them up and forget about them haha.

Not me personally, but my ex has a stylised topless manga portrait of me in the upper part of his sleeve, and I'd wager it isn't his favourite sight to see in the mirror every day!! (His idea, not mine, before anybody criticises.) :teehee:

If they mean something to you or are going to look really cool, it's your decision and nobody elses

i drew it and stuck the drawing to the wall next to my bed so id have to look at it everyday before i got it
it was on my wall for 2 years before i got it
    i still love it
I like what another user (sorry, I've forgotten your username!) Minniiee suggested about putting the picture on the wall for a while so you have to look at it every day. (With the pocketwatch, at least, since you won't forget how the infinity symbol looks.) If you can stare at it for a few months and not feel completely bored of the sight of it, it's a keeper. :p:

When i was 16 I got a tribal on my upper right arm, its almost a half sleeve. It has no meaning what so ever and i do regret it, try to put as much thought into it as possible.
Everyone i know that has tribal has regretted it so try to avoid that, good luck

The only problem is I'm as good at art as a blindfolded gibbon. I want a unique tattoo, and I know the elements I want, but there is no way I can actually draw it myself. I've spent hours trying, but I just have no skill or talent in that area, and I'm no whizz with photoshop either, so the mock-ups I've tried to make have failed aswell

Drunk and tattooed the deathly hallows symbol ON MYSELF, its a good tattoo but it's too visible on my little finger!

    Bah
Yeahh, i tattood myself when i was about 14, just had it tattoo'd over, it hurt getting it covered up, mostly because somehow id manages to etch out a chunk of skin,
self tattoos always look like biro, so i suggest never ever doing it!
