What's Fitzwilliam like? And how long does it take to walk from there to the city centre?

Excuse my ignorance... but what is that?
DoS = director of studies. They are the person who interviews and chooses candidates, then manages their studies by finding supervisors and overseeing module choices etc. They'll be the most important person to your academic life if you get in.

Oh thanks for clearing that up

Why is he more important that the person that takes tutorials etc. I understand he'd be important when it comes to admission but when you actually get in ?

Sorry for the odd questions, i'm not too knowledgeable about this

Most of them will teach you at some point.

They're important because they oversee what goes on. If you have a complaint about a supervisor they can help you get another one. I think some are less hands on than others but they're your point of call for academic concerns generally.

I'm not a current student, but I stayed at Fitz last year and it took about 20-25 minutes. I'm not the world's fastest walker though..

I have a rather peculiar question...

I stayed in accommodation for my interviews, and I noticed that the beds are standard single bed dimensions (6 foot 3 in length I believe). However, I'm 6 foot 4. Do they have, er, longer beds available for people of my height?

unusually fun* for a small college, very close i.e. everyone seems to know everyone else there, will do LITERALLY ANYTHING 'for the wheel'

aggressively pro-cindies (even more than most of the party colleges)

    excels at mixed netball :')

*particularly if you like going out, drinking, team sports and breaking the 'don't **** where you eat' rule with your collegemates
..and which colleges would they be?

Also, anyone have anything to say about Murray Edwards?

    Thanks

For English students: Does the Italian option on the foreign language paper have a language standard prerequisite - GCSE/A -level? Or does it depend on college?

queens', pembroke, homerton, christs (well it was last term, i'm not sure if that's always the case), clare- plenty of the middle-sized mixed colleges, definitely not johns/trinity/kings/girls colleges/mature colleges

less exciting than and considerably inferior to newnham.

nah, the girls i've met from there are all lovely, it's basically so 'new' that it hasn't had time to acquire the kickass feminist lesbian slut girls' college rep that newn has- so it's a tad more chilled out, less aggressively sociable and less likely to attract sharks than newnham!

Scholarships are college-specific, and they're often quite specialised in nature (e.g. student of this gender from this particular area of this country studying this subject who achieved these grades). Most people don't have them, anyway. But a fair few students get the bursary.
