Ah that's cool, so you already know the uni
Have you confirmed on GTTR? Maybe we get sent more stuff once we have accepted the offer?
I currently live in Leicester during term, and in a village about 50 mins from Warwick in holidays , so will probably move nearer, as I'm not sure an hour commute each way everyday would be do-able with the workload we will have - any recommendations for where is good to live? Do most people live in Coventry or in Warwick/Kenilworth?
I've just confirmed now! So exciting
I would definitely move closer, it would normally take me about 10-15minutes to get to uni, but for my 9am lectures it takes me up to 50minutes as the traffic gets really bad! Most students live in Leamington and there are buses every 10ish minutes to campus, and it's so much nicer than Cov. Earlsdon is pretty close too and some students live there and the same with Kenilworth, but the majority go to leamington, and that's where most of us go for nights out (although I don't know how many nights out we'll be able to fit in next year as it sounds very intensive!).
There's uni run accommodation in South Leamington, which you could get in easily, but if you go onto threads there are normally students who are in need of an extra housemate as someone has dropped out etc, and with those you could see who you'll be living with, so you'll probably be able to live with other postgrads.
Do you know how many people will be on the course or anyone else who has got onto it? -
Re: Warwick PGCE Primary
Hi,
I received an offer from Warwick, primary PGCE with science specialism last week, but don't really know where to go from here!
I'm from Birmingham, so could also potentially live at home, but I'm guessing the commute would kill me with the long days! Is it too early to be finding somewhere to live, or will I have missed the boat in a couple of months?
I guess I'll have to find these threads to see what everyone else is doing about accommodation, but my friend told me I should speak to people within this thread to see what's going on!! -

If you go onto the uni accommodation pages, you can apply now for postgrad accommodation: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/a...us/overview/pg but like I said in a previous post, if you look on threads on facebook there are always people looking for housemates so you should be able to find something

I think the woman on the day said there were 160 partner schools, so I am guessing maybe about that many people on the course? Or I suppose 80 if 2 people go to each?!
Have you found anyone else with a place who's not on this thread?

Re: Warwick PGCE Primary
Hi all
I am new to this forum. I have confirmed a place for a Primary PGCE with a Maths Specialism for Sept 2012. Look forward to meeting you all then. I have lived in Coventry for years so if you have any questions, please go ahead and ask. BTW-I also agree that the "name calling" on interview day was a bit grim!

Re: Warwick PGCE Primary
Well done to all of you who have received offers!
I've got a Primary PGCE interview at Warwick next week - I was wondering if any of you could tell me what the English test was like? Also what are they looking for in the group task and what was the hardest question in the interview? Did they ask many questions specific to your degree subject and how that was used in the national curriculum?
Sorry, lots of questions, but I would really appreciate any guidance at all that you guys can give me!
Thanks! -

The English test was reading an article about an eductional review, and there was a statement about the articel which we had to argue either for or against (it didn't matter which, they weren't bothered about your opinion, just how you expressed it).
The group task was actually only 3 people, looking at a book and chatting about it - very relaxed and friendly
The interview itself was very friendly too, so don't worry! All the questions I had were very straight-forward and what you would expect, nothing random/nasty. Only briefly mentioned degree, in that we had to discuss what our specialism would be, and nothing at all about the curriculum for me.
I would just say be as relaxed as you can, appear confident and friendly, and above all enthusiastic about teaching
Good luck!
(feel free to pm me if you want to chat more) -
Re: Warwick PGCE PrimaryThanks for the info! You've made it sound less scary so that is good! Trying to stay calm haha.(Original post by Daftdonkey)
