Other people getting tattoos could work to your advantage in a small way. They'll have less money to spend on the stuff that you want, making it cheaper and easier for you to get that stuff. Also, it'll reduce your competition in finding a partner who is like you. It could also reduce your competition for the job you want.

People get tattoos for so many reasons. So what ifs merely because they find them beautiful? It is their body. They can do what they want to it!

You don't agree with 'memories/tributes'...have you ever lost a loved one? If so you know the pain that causes. Some people want to declare their love eternally in their skin for that person. And you know what, I think that's really quite beautiful.

Passion/interest- oh please Well I guess that makes me an idiot then. I got mine purely for that reason. Passion and interest. My tattoo is to keep me on the right path. The path that has become my meaning in life. If I have even a second of doubt I only have to look at my tat and it reminds me how much passion I had the day I got it. I don't really care if people think thats a stupid reason. Its better than getting one 'just because'.

I doubt many people got one because their other half told them too...yes that is stupid.

Liking the design...you know a lot of people who are serious about getting a tattoo spend hours pouring over photos/paintings, drawing and designed and reading into the meanings behind certain pictures. Tattoo'ing is simply a permanent artform. Why shouldn't they be allowed to see it every day on their skin?

I personally think there is only one type of tattoo idiot. And that is the people that get tattoo's 'Just to have one'. They pick a crappy design off the sheet in the flick-through-folders. It has no meaning, its not even aesthetically nice. They then regret it before it had stopped bleeding...ridiculous.
