Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid.
I really don't get people who moan about other people having tattoos. How does someone having a tattoo affect you in any way? I personally don't like stretchers, so I don't have one. I really don't feel the need to call everyone who has a stretcher stupid and rant about them on the internet.
I have two tattoos, one on my hip and the other one on my side, most people don't even know they are there until I tell them, so they have zero effect on employability or how I'll look in a wedding dress etc. which was important to me when getting them. When I'm older and they don't look good they are easily hidden with a swimming costume as well.
Judge me all you want, but don't expect me to give a ****. -
Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid.Ah - it's just another of those things that most people don't understand and seem to have difficulty settling down with the fact that they don't understand it.(Original post by laura130490)

I dont like stretchers as well - I think they're ugly. But I'm sure they look attractive to people that are into stretchers, so there ya go. I really couldn't give less of a damn, so long as no one is forcing me to get one. -
Do you honestly think that people will listen to you if you speak in this tone? It's YOUR opinion so get over it(Original post by Pink Gravy)
.... and don't bore me with "pictures speak louder than words"
Seriously, if you have a tattoo, why?
Memories/tributes- I don't agree with that justification
Passion/Interest- oh please
Did your bf/gf make you get one? If so, your stupid.
Because you really like the design? Get real. Buy a picture.
You want something "permanent"?
An increasing amount of people in my year are getting tattoos and posting them on BB, facebook and just bragging about it. They give me the lols
Even JB has got one of Jesus

your stupid.
But seriously though, each to their own, I like tattoos if they're tasteful and not just tribal crap, just because you don't like them doesn't make them stupid. -
Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid.
I don't see how other people getting tattoos is any of your business. You're entitled to your opinion, but criticising others for having them is very shallow. Just because you don't like something doesn't automatically make it stupid, it just makes you more closed-minded.

Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid.
****ing get off you high horse you nutter. Just because you don't like something, we should all agree with you? Your "people with tattoos are stupid" attitude is ridiculous. Get over yourself, do you really think people on here actually give a crap what you think? People get tattoos for different reasons - you can't dispute their reasoning just because you don't agree with it.

Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid.
I personally disagree with tattoos in general, except in a few circumstances. I think, for instance, that as a way of showing dedication or in memory of someone it is acceptable - it's a certain commitment and so should represent something special (although for far too many people that may not be the case). That's the only time I's get a tattoo. However, I can see why people like the idea of tattoos, it just isn't my thing at all.

Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid.
I'm not sure whether this has been discussed on this thread so far, but what about people who get tattoos for cosmetic reasons, such as covering up a scar etc.?
Also, I'm pleasantly surprised to see a certain lack of grocer's apostrophes in this thread. This makes me happy. I don't have to wear out my "grocer's apostrophe nazi hat". -

Re: Getting a tattoo is stupid. My granddad got his first tattoo when he was in his early 20s, he's now in his late 60s and doesn't regret it, so I don't think you can make this assumption at all.(Original post by snozzle)
They are stupid because it implies a blinkered view that what one likes today is what one will always like.
Just like welding your favorite shirt to yourself so you have to wear it forever.
You're going to regret it in the years ahead.
My mum has a tattoo of a ladybird from when she was working with children who had been in abusive families - known as the ladybird group.
My dad has a tattoo of our football team's crest - he was born in the city and plans to move back as soon as my brother leaves for university and they don't have to be close to his college anymore.
While some people might regret it, you can't say everyone will and therefore it isn't a reason to say they're stupid.
