Here's yet another bash at losing weight. So, I wanna lose some fat and tone up (don't we all).

I am 162 cm and weigh 57kg. I wanna get down to 50kg.

    Only started today, I did:
running - attempted to... Was quite stop start with a lot of brisk walking for ~20mins
    sit ups - 3 sets of 10
    push ups - 2 sets of 5

my warm ups/cool downs involve the usual squats, lunges, light jogging.

Gonna be doing this about 4 times a week. My diet is generally pretty healthy, so I don't know what to do about that really... Except because I want to lose weight I should probably reduce my calorie intake, right?

For toning I'm really just doing sit ups, push ups and 1kg dumbells (they're the only weights I have). Can't afford gym etc. so everything I'm doing has to sorta be free :moon:

    Any tips etc. appreciated :yy:

OK, so first time I've been "running" since the above post.
I say it in inverted commas because it's more like HITT, stopping and starting I can't wait to build up to a 20 minute streak of pure running.

I lied when I said I'd be doing it 4 times a week, since it's been 5 days since the first post, and all I've done is be a complete lazyass and eaten 1 burger, some chocolate fondue, a greasy breakfast fry up :'( This is what happens soon as I start running. Grr!

Hopefully will go again Thursday. Hopefully. What? I WILL GO RUNNING ON THURSDAY DAMMIT.

    I. RUN. ON. THURSDAY. YES.

    Halp. :erm:

I went running the day before yesterday. Was a bit better. Only did 15 minutes though but it was a lot more running than walking, so that's built some confidence. Didn't do anymore sit ups or anything though was going to go running again today but ?I put it off and now it's too dark (stupid excuse I know)

Will do some sit ups etc and try and find some exercises for my bingo wings tonight though...

Hopefully will do something more substantial tomorrow daytime.

Well. That didn't last very long.

    Last Monday:
Did HITT for 30mins... 1min 17 secs (every single second counts!) running... 3mins power walk/fast walking.
Sit ups, (3 sets of 10) these leg pull-y up-y things (3 sets of 10)... These arm rotation movements (4 sets of 20).

    Today:
WEnt gym... Did aduction machine, various weight machines for 20 mins altogether.
    Treadmill for 20mins at 8km/h.

    Going again tomorrow.

    Yesterday:

Did 2km rowing. 2 sets of 20 on 4 different weight machines: working bum, legs, triceps and biceps.

    20mins on off on treadmill.

Plus the usual stretches for warm up/ cool downs.

    Sweated buckets.

    Hi there icapturethecastle
I've recently lost about 1.5 stones (21 pounds) in about 5/6 weeks. You seem to be doing a lot of useless stomach exercises such as sit ups and abduction machines, if I were you take these out completely. Also, if you really want to lose weight you should incorporate some strength training (I recommend Rippetoes Starting Strength routine) to build a little muscle as well as lose fat (since the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism). This will ensure when you have lost weight you're not just skinny fat. For example, some girls that have a diet+cardio lose weight from their bum but then it becomes really saggy and disgusting to look at (even though it may be thinner), if you incorporate squats from the above programme, then you will have a rounded and much better looking bottom. Lifting weights will not make you big and muscly btw, its virtually impossible for a woman to get muscular unless you take testosterone-blockers/steroids/other crap and you weight train for many years. For the HIIT reduce the workout time to say 10 minutes, and instead of just running and walking, try full speed sprinting and fast walking for say 15 seconds sprint and 20 second walk (you can improve this as time goes on). For the cardio, be more consistent with what you do, don't just do a bit of treadmill and then a bit of rowing etc. I recommend 3x30/40 minute sessions on the treadmill. And really REALLY PUSH YOURSELF. I keep going till I struggle to breath and I feel like puking (don't just do a light run, you really want to feel some pain). Trust me try this for 2 weeks and come back to me to tell me your new weight, you'll definitely have lost weight. Can you post a typical diet as well?
