Re: Keele 2012 Firmers
Lindsay Court and Holly Cross and the oaks are all really beautiful, spacious double bed and a en-suite but the rest of the accommodation is really crap but then its one of the cheapest in the country and its everyone else that makes living in halls a fun and enjoyable time.(First year keele student)

Re: Keele 2012 Firmers
The halls aren't as bad as people think. Yes, a lot of them are old and don't look pretty, but one of the advantages of Keele is that so many students live on campus. A lot of people don't like the thought of Hawthorns, for example, but last year it was voted the best hall, because of its atmosphere.
Holly Cross and the Oaks are really nice though

Re: Keele 2012 Firmers
Helloooo.
Science dude here. I firm'd for Physics/Chemistry. Fingers crossed I get the grades.
My dilemma at the moment is that I always wanted to live in a 1Bed flat when I go to uni - Luckily the area around Keele is very affordable but there aren't many flats, nevermind 1 bedroom ones.
I guess I just don't like the idea of student halls. But heyho, I will if I must. -
Re: Keele 2012 FirmersYou could look into studio flats in private halls?(Original post by tamimi)

Re: Keele 2012 FirmersI think I have. I recall the annual cost being around 6 grand. Which is 85.7% of my annual income!(Original post by ~ Purple Rose ~)

Re: Keele 2012 FirmersThe only halls with their own loos are the en suite ones and theyre really expensive. All of the halls have good night life atmospheres, but HC and Oaks (ensiute blocks) are the only ones without their own bars.(Original post by benrowlands36)
Hey, im doing Biomed Science. I want to go to a hall with a good night life atmosphere, but also want my own toilet. Any suggestions? -
Re: Keele 2012 FirmersWhat are the best halls for certain criteria?:(Original post by ~Kat~)
My 3rd year here at the moment, so if you've got any questions I'd be happy to answer
Study, nightlife, facilities...any more that you can think of, would be much appreciated
-
Re: Keele 2012 FirmersThe best halls for nightlife are probably Hawthorns, but they're the furthest away from main campus, about a 20 min walk and a bit of a dive to be honest. All of the halls have their own bar except for the premier en suites, which are Holly Cross and Oaks. Facilities-wise all the halls are pretty much the same, same with studying they're all pretty standard.(Original post by ihateocr)

If you're a first year though I don't think you get to choose which block you want to be in, you just choose to either be in a standard room, standard w/ wash basin, en suite or premiere en suite. Standard w/ washbasin is pretty much the way to go, so long as you don't mind sharing bathrooms. -
Re: Keele 2012 FirmersLindsay Court isn't that expensive relative to other unis, it has a good nightlife atmosphere and it's own bar. What's not to like?(Original post by ~Kat~)
