These are in no particularly order. I just think the following are brilliant writers. They may not be all authors but they shouldn't be exempt.

    John Green
    William Shakespeare
    F. Scott Fitzgerald
    Tennessee Williams
Khaleed Hossieni (Please excuse me if I spelled his name incorrectly).
    Gabriel Garcia Marquez
    Percy Shelley
    Alfred Lord Tennyson
    Seamus Heaney
While I agree with many on your list, I can't stand Seamus Heaney. His poetry, especially his later work, is so pretentious. The Death of a Naturalist stuff is alright but I hate Alphabets with a passion.

Haruki Murakami is my favourite writer, I'm in no position to say he's the best. I think my favourite book is probably The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles.

Favourite book of all time? The very hungry cattepiller. Nothing can beat it in terms of literary genius. XD
    EPIC!

I don't really have a favourite but I always enjoy reading any of Stephen Kings books, mostly Pet Sematary

Glad you think so. My childhood would have been very different without that book.

    Oscar Wilde. I love Aestheticism.
I don't know how you can 'love' aestheticism to be honest. I can understand how a reader can appreciate it, but I don't find 'art for art's sake' enjoyable to read. I once highlighted every colour on a single page of The Picture of Dorian Gray - there was something like 26! Aestheticism is supposed to be about seeking and identifying beauty... Oscar Wilde seems to catalogue it. Having said that, I do like his works; Importance of Being Earnest is a favourite of mine... but I don't like them because of aestheticism.

I'm a Carlos Ruiz Zafon fan. Shadow of the Wind was pure genius, all though Angel's Game was under-whelming and a little pretentious imo. Loved the Noughts and Crosses series (and always will); Jean Ure's 'Plague 99'; The Book Thief etc etc etc

Fair enough you dislike Heaney . The reason I like him is because of the Irishness he presents within his poetry. I may only be half Irish but it's bloody interesting because it reminds me of my forefathers whom I never met or knew or sought to know.

All literature is subjective. Tbh I don't think you should be negged for this post.

Probably The Portrait of Dorian Gray for Wotton's aphorisms. Author-wise, I like Orwell's writing.

    Ones that are dead:
    F. Scott Fitzgerald
    Jack Kerouac
    Sylvia Plath
    Tennessee Williams
    Ones that are alive:
John FREAKING Green. (Just finished TFIOS 2 days ago, it was brilliant)
    Jonathan Safran Foer

But the thing is I think John Green is an all around luminous, awe-inspiring human being, while Jonathan Safran Foer seems like a bit of a pretentious douche. So yeah

Mikhail Bulgakov - Master and Margarita

Best book I've ever read, by far.

    Dostoevsky
Yes, also another good one. Both books much much better in original language.

lol what a pretencious list.

let us be honest, the best writers are the likes of Anthony Horowitz, good ol' J K Rowling and Stephenie Mayer. There books are real page turners!

Stephenie Mayer couldn't write jack ****. I could vom up a book in my spare time better than her.

Your appalling spelling is rendered even more appalling by the fact that it soils the virtual pages of a BOOK discussion.
Also, I cannot believe for the life of me that anyone would cite Stephenie Meyer (you also misspelled her name, bravo) as one of the world's best writers of all time.
Real, genuinely GOOD books are those that make you think about things, about events, ideas and life in general, that make you re-evaluate your most fundamental morals and ideals. They stay with you for life.
Admittedly, Stephenie Meyer WILL stay with me for life, but only as a bitter memory of the author of the worst book I have ever had the misfortune of reading.

JK Rowling, however, is a GOOD writer. Shame you tarnished her name by associating her with utter garbage.
