Gerrard is done they said
Gerrard will never do it again they said
That needs to be the team that plays from now on, only possible change being Bellers for Downing.
Gerrard, Kelly, Carroll, Suarez were all very pleasing.
The main thing I took from that performance though is that we need rid of Charlie Adam. Look how much more fluid our play was without him selfishly shooting whenever he is near the goal and constantly giving the ball away. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VII
I think everyone is a bit unfair on Henderson.
Today he was probably the worst Liverpool player on the pitch - fine
However, once again he's playing in a position he doesn't really want to. He obviously has the vision and can pass the ball well but he doesn't know how to play as a winger or an inside forward like Kuyt does but we can't blame him for that.
Spearing was boss for me tonight, Fellani is a very good midfielder all round but Spearing generally kept on top of him and had enough control to allow Gerrard to continue to get forward.
Great to see Kelly do well again, he's a little unlucky that Johnson is as good as him but has the experience on top, will def get more minutes next season when we have EL football.
Carroll showed what he could do today for me - held the ball up well, always passed the ball back to a red shirt, fought in the air a lot and won his fair share. We didn't get many set pieces so didnt see him as close to goal. He was so close with that one chance though. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIThe thing is, today we got a relatively early goal (33 mins I think?) which meant Everton had to come out for the remaining 60 mins and it opened up the game.(Original post by The Baron)

If we could score in the first 30 mins in every game, we'd look significantly better as teams wouldn't be able to sit so deep. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII'm still not confident in his ability to choose the right signings. It's the reason we haven't challenged for fourth convincingly this season. But he does seem to be a great man manager and knows how to get the players going on a big occasion. Explains why we've excelled in the cups but not against supposedly lame opposition at home.
If only he treated every league game the exact same way, we may have been better off. But enough negativity, great win today guys! -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VII
Still think we re-evaluate at the end of the season. Think Woy was one of the very few Liverpool managers who has been fired midway through a season.
Kenny has 10 more league games + up to 3 more FA cup (well + 1 potential replay) games to prove himself.
If we finish the season strongly, then what happens? This was the first league game that Carroll/Suarez/Gerrard started together and completed 90 mins together and what a performance by all 3! (not to take away the contribute of the rest of the team who were fantastic too). -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIThink he has some maturing yet to do.(Original post by De Chirico)
Suarez is such a petulant little **** isn't he? Great footballer just a shame his attitude lets him down so badly.
Look at Drogba, the guy is a class A WUM but he uses everything to his advantage and lets the football do the talking. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIICompletely agree. It's all about getting the balance right in the midfield and when Stevie plays with Adam there is no balance. Adam cannot defend which means that Gerrard can't attack as much; where he offers his biggest threat. When he plays with Spearing, he has more license to go forward and do damage along with Suarez and Carroll. He's also slow and except from the odd 40-yard pass, he is useless.(Original post by The Baron)

Except being completely unselfish and handing Stevie a hat trick on a plate.
Wait, I remember a dive. lol. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VII
Good solid team performance.
Expected a reaction, and we got one.
I think any criticism of Henderson is unfair. Some of his passing and touches were class - I think he'll be a good player for us - albeit in a more central role.
Carroll did some great link up play, and holding the ball up. Whilst he's still not scoring many his all round performances of late have been much improved.
Suarez looked to be getting his sharpness back, some great touches as expected, finishing/confidence in front of goal again looked poor. (fair play to him laying on the second for Gerrard)
The team in general put in a good performance, I just hope the rest of the team start chipping in with some goals.
I haven't commented on Stevie because we all know and expect that kind of class from him. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VII
That was Steven Gerrard's 15th Merseyside derby win in the Premier League, along with Jamie Carragher. No Everton player has won more than five. Big Neville Southall holds that record.
haha
Listen to this piece of comedy gold too;
bigbluet0e
We were beaten by a better team tonight........ Everton, We beat ourselves tonight, that pile of **** are nothing they only managed to win because we couldnt pass a ball tonight. Not one player on the pitch impressed me tonight, Moyes needs to get them on the training ground tomorrow and teach them how to ****ing pass a ****ing ball we gave it away far to many times. It annoys me now i have to go into work to a bunch of RS gloating over a win they didnt deserve
You could not make it up! We only won cos they were really, really ****!

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIILmao. Nice one.(Original post by lifeshard)
When Gerrard/Downing/Suarez and Carroll start together our attacking threat looks a lot more potent as the focus is not placed on Suarez who can't even finish his dinner. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIAgree with all of that. Enrique also had a great game, looked like he picked it back up to the levels he was playing at earlier in the season.(Original post by Zerforax)

There was a funny moment in the first half where Jay tried to force Fellaini off of the ball but just got bounced back about 2 feet and Fellaini didn't even move.
