Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VII'Tis a shame. I'll never forget that goal vs Arsenal & assist vs Olympiakos.(Original post by mr tim)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIExactly. Too be frank a lot of players have the mind of a turd, but football intelligence can be worked on. A LB doesn't need to be that smart, if you can drill in and work on his defensive duties and his weakness he will be a pretty decent LB.(Original post by Zerforax)
Decent foundations of what? He has the body of a bull but the mind of a turd.
He shouldn't need Lucas to cover him a lot of the time. The problem is that he's very one footed, lacks intelligence and that he tries to shield the ball by planting his leg over it. It works against the average winger most of the time but he gets destroyed by anyone who has more pace than him or those who target his positioning.
We've seen him be at fault a number of times this season and imo he'll get a red card some point soon for the way he plants his foot to win the ball (if he rolls over the ball, he could break an ankle imo).
When Banitez was manager and Vallero was goalkeeping coach he would go over every minute and Reina's game. If he made a mistake he would go through them with him see what was going on in his mind and look to improve on it. He taught him to move his positioning with every pass of the ball so he was always in the right spot if danger was there.
That helped Reina be as great as he was, he didn't come to Liverpool a goalkeeping mastermind, but the way he was coached really helped. You can see now Reina is in decline he has had like 4 different GK coaches in 2 years so it's actually making him worse.
I'm not saying we coaching staff is terrible but I think their methods are because they are obviously not working. If they were you think that downing might actually be doing something, but then again it might just be Downing. It's similar in a lot of our players though. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIThink he said she was 1 and a half in a Liverpool Documentary.(Original post by mr tim)
Really liked Suarez's daughter waving... how old is she? -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIILucky you.(Original post by Zerforax)
Well the plan would be to buy 3 memberships.
Tbfh, I don't know why I'm overthinking it, I get a payrise in August so I can afford it
Just did my finance and realized at most I'll be able to go to around 2-3 games this season. I'm thinking it might be better just to watch it at home.
Probably will just buy the new kit.Last edited by So Instinct; 09-05-2012 at 18:14. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIBecoming a full time student is really gonna limit me next season too, though I was planning to go to quite a few(Original post by So Instinct)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIHe is better now than he was before (Rooney) you can't even deny he had a temper, kicked out at people and dived somewhat. There is probably a plethora of gif's to back that.(Original post by Kevmeister)
Even so, its still one game in a season in which he's played 45 or so. And there were extenuating circs in that game IIRC.
30 odd league games with one yellow says more, tbpfh.
Suarez will probably calm down somewhat in the near future, someone is likely to have a word with him, I'm not sure but he looks like hes staying on his feet more often so maybe someone has had a word with him. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VII
Will never forget this goal, and steven hunters reaction to it .

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII started from 0 loyalty this season, and trains from the south and back most of the time for the weekend! You might not have first scoop at the tickets come July and November, but there's plenty of chances to go to games. The cup games you can easily get hold of tickets for and the PL games lots get returned and resold closer to the time(Original post by kuks)
I might get membership this time but that would mean starting from 0 loyalty. Also trains from the midlands to Liverpool and back are piss

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIINonsense? What was nonsense? I'm talking about the fact that the headlines on in the media were about Suarez, and how he was lucky to still be on the pitch, with no mention of the Essien tackle. And then everyone I have spoke to since has suggested the same thing, that's whats nonsense.(Original post by Kevmeister)
Essien tackle was discussed a page or two back. Try reading back before posting nonsense. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIYou said it was funny how fans and the media made light of the Essien tackle, I pointed out that it was nonsense given that it was discussed in this thread a page back from your mini rant.(Original post by Torrresss)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIDunno, Enrique is pretty old already (relative to learning, ie he's 25 so most players have learnt and engrained their style of play), it's not even improving on basics, it's a case of learning some very basic things like when to provide an overlap in attacking or how to be two footed.(Original post by So Instinct)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIWell my problem is more getting up to Anfield from London and convincing my gf to come along or to let me disappear for the day(Original post by So Instinct)

Adding in the cost of transport suddenly makes it very expensive on top of the ticket prices.. -
