Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIWigan do this every season in all honesty. They should have been relegated long time ago. But they've actually shown progress this season in comparison to previous seasons(Original post by pbsjohnz)
Out of Martinez and Rogers I would go for Rogers. The way Swansea out played the teams in the top 10 was unbelievable.
And it wasn't just a good run of form like what Wigan did in April, (which made Martinez famous). Swansea played the pass and move football the whole season. It was kind of like watching Arsenal from 2004, except not as good.
I don't think Martinez is good enough, he is now famous for beating teams in the top eight over 2 months. That could have been a good run of form from his players as the all hit peak at once.
Blanc's contract is expiring in the summer.(Original post by Zerforax)
10.26am: Liverpool plan to speak to as many as 12 managers apparently. By the way, you have to admire their confidence in putting Guardiola at the top of their wishlist, even after he said "I'm going to take a sabbatical".
Guardiola
Capello
Benitez
Rodgers
Martinez
Lambert
Klopp
Deschamps
AVB
Can't think of another 3 names.. -

Has the new head of communications started yet? Cos this is another worthy facepalm moment. -

Spaletti is someone you should be looking at, along with any other decent continental option. Martinez, Rodgers and Lambert shouldn't be touched. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIWe wouldn't need to spend our entire budget, Fiorentina are in a worse position than us.
I think his contract expires next summer and he's 28 now.
We could get him for like 5-7mil imo.
He's rated as one of the best crossers of the ball and dead ball specialist. If Adam's set pieces are worth 7.5mil, I bet this guy is worth way more.
He's flexible because he can play fullback or left wing and has an engine on him. He'd provide great competition for Enrique and would be a more attacking option. Old enough that we could let him go in 3 or 4 years and let Robinson take over then.
Carroll would love his crossing and he'd be like a left footed Johnson. Bet he's better than Downing too (though that's not hard).
You know I'm right! And then we could use him to lure Jovetic from Fiorentia too to play in the AMC role or on the right flank in the 'Kuyt' role as I like to call it now. Intelligent player who could adapt and he's been playing as striker for Fiorentina lately so his goal scoring would be better.
Means we could play a narrow front three of Suarez, Carroll, Jovetic with flying wingbacks in Vargas and Johnson at Anfield but then go to a defensive and wide style with Bellamy, Suarez and Downing* with Enrique and Kelly playing as solid fullbacks. Or tactically switch it up to play aggressive on one flank and defensive on the other.
The plan is flawless ffs
*I would get a crossing right footed winger eg Krasic to be better than Downing and to give width. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIINah he won't have started yet and it's not official yet. Just showing how facepalm worthy our current staff are.(Original post by Kevmeister)

What's Spaletti even doing now? -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIHe's got a contract to 2014 and is integral to Madrid's play so won't be leaving any time soon. No doubt they will offer him an extension over the coming months/year.(Original post by pbsjohnz)
Well he did say that he never wanted to leave us, and that he still watches our games every week and supports us.
So leave Madrid now, you won la liga but you did not win the EPL!
Although he's only 30 and his style of play doesn't rely on pace so could easily play for another 5 years.. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIYou've been playing too much football manager. Still would prefer downing over vargas though(Original post by Zerforax)

Still that's a good idea.

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIIndeed.(Original post by Zerforax)
Nah he won't have started yet and it's not official yet. Just showing how facepalm worthy our current staff are.

He's at Zenit, he did only sign a new deal in February, but he's infinitely better than anyone yous are thinking of approaching that currently works in the PL. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIINothing to do with football manager tbh. I just think, consider how many teams park the bus at Anfield, a more attacking leftback than Enrique would cause more damage. Vargas is known for his crossing in Italy and we might aswell make use of that since we've got Carroll in the box.(Original post by jam277)
You've been playing too much football manager. Still would prefer downing over vargas though

FM isn't sophisticated enough for my ideas
Do you mean Downing over Vargas or Vargas over Downing? -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIMust be delightful not having had to worry about a new manager for 25 years and being linked to the dross that we do.(Original post by Kevmeister)
Indeed.
He's at Zenit, he did only sign a new deal in February, but he's infinitely better than anyone yous are thinking of approaching that currently works in the PL.
Still can't believe we appointed Roy Hodgson for a period of time.
