Post ingrown toe nail surgery.So I had really bad ingrown toe nail, i had a surgery on it around a month ago now. It was starting to get better, but recently it started to grow in again, and became stiff (on the infected area), wen i ever i touch it hurts, i am wondering wheather i should consider removing it all together, and let it re-grow, wat do u guys think? Also, I have a follow up appointment next month, is there anything I could use to reduce infection and the pain? Thanks for the help!

Call the podiatry clinic, explain and ask for an appointment ASAP. Don't do any of it yourself. I speak as someone who is recovering from similar work

Re: Post ingrown toe nail surgery.Well it sounds like the doctor didn't use that acid (I forgot what it's called) to prevent it from going again. The tenderness is normal, though if it's already growing back within a month I wouldn't touch it and just let it grow out until your next appointment, as that's all you can do.

Re: Post ingrown toe nail surgery.I would contact the podiatrist who carried out your surgery! If there is an infection the podiatrist will be able to prescribe antibiotics to clear it! The podiatrist should also be able to give you advice over the phone! Unfortunately you may have to go through it all again if the nail is growing back. But trust me when it's all done and hopefully successfully heals it will be worth it! Ingrown toe nails as bad as tooth ache in my opinion! Go straight to the expert, the podiatrist after all they are the foot specialists and will be able to give you the best advice possible! Hope your out of pain soon!

Re: Post ingrown toe nail surgery.Really irritating! Had a minor accident where I had to have my toenail removed. My toenail then became ingrown, and I had to have the same surgery to "slit" the side, which did basically nothing as it healed and my toenail began getting ingrown again! It then became infected, and went back to the doctor all she did was give me some antibiotics or whatever, which did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. After a couple of weeks the area with pus burst, and while squeezing it a piece of my toenail came out! It seems that a piece of my toenail had broken off and dislodged in my toe! Ever since then I TRY to keep that area cut and clean, though easier said than done

Re: Post ingrown toe nail surgery.I had ingrown toenails for years when I was younger and had to have a few operations until they actually went! I'd go see the orthodontist again and get their view. By the sounds ofit it's grown in again which means the surgery didn't do it's job, I had the same thing. Get the whole thing taken off, really doesn't make any difference to anything in life and worry is gone. I did that for mine, but one actuually still regrew but is fine now. Re: Post ingrown toe nail surgery.PLEASE READ! I had an ingrown toe nail that hurt so much I couldn't bend my toe and it was huge. My brothers had an operation on theirs but ended up with a weird shaped nail so I had a chiropodist come and rip the ingrown part out of mine. Yea granted I nearly fainted but it was worth it because now my nail is completely normal. So much easier and cheaper, cost about £15 and touch wood its been fine since.
