Re: Accommodation thread 2012
Im thinking of applying for Victoria halls and trigon, i was going to choice opal 1 but I've heard its FULL of international students, nothing wrong with them of course, just makes it harder to meet people. I think everyone will apply for Vic halls aswell so not sure whether its worth picking.

Re: Sheffield Hallam Accommodation thread 2012
Hiya,
I've applied for Victoria hall as my 1st choice and the forge and my second.
It may seem a little early and a bit too eager but I'm quite confused about deposits and what not (I'm probably being really stupid too!).
I emailed accommodation to see how much money would be needed before we go and when we would have to pay it by and their reply confused me even more!
They said we should expect to pay fees when we get an offer in July (although I thought accommodation wasn't accepted until we sent the results?) and that would involve the deposit and the first instalment? is this basically the first few weeks rent?
Again, I know it's really early to worry but I just wanna have a heads up so I know how much to save rather than it just being sprung on us! -

Re: Sheffield Hallam Accommodation thread 2012what you pay depends on which halls you are in. If you get Victoria Hall then you dont pay a deposit, you just pay £150 of your overall costs up front. in June time when you get ur accommodation. (you get ur accommodation early if ur unconditional)(Original post by cb1990)

Re: Sheffield Hallam Accommodation thread 2012Ahh that makes things a little clearer, you should work for accommodation services as that's the most helpful and clear someone has been yet!!(Original post by jde-tv)

Re: Sheffield Hallam Accommodation thread 2012I have friends in Old Workshop.(Original post by amorris)
Any thoughts on Woodville hall or Old Workshop ? What are they like ? Close to collegiate campus which is handy for nursing students but looking for more info before I decide which to apply for and in what order?
It's very close to campus, and the rooms are of a decent standard. -
Re: Sheffield Hallam Accommodation thread 2012The forge is good for student accomadation, good room and I think all have an en suite bathroom, plenty of stoarage space in both the rooms and kitchen and about a 10 minute walk to both collegiate and city campus.(Original post by amorris)
Thanks for that. It's always good to get some inside info before deciding. Do you know much about the forge as far as accommodation and proximity to both campuses is concerned???? -
Re: Sheffield Hallam Accommodation thread 2012Hey, i wouldn't worry to much about Opal 1, my dads friends son went there and he loves it. He said that the accommodation was split so that the international students were all in one half because they found that they weren't mixing, i don't know if thats actually true but that's what i heard!(Original post by katiexoxo)
Applied for victoria hall and opal 1 but i'm really worried because i've heard that opal 1 is full of international students and i'm worried I won't make friends :-(
And my course is criminology
I applied for Victoria hall as my first choice to although it seems that everybody has done that :P I put devonshire courtyard as my second!
