Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistryThey cant give you the predicted grades until August results day. Btw what are you looking to apply for???(Original post by hus11128386)
wtf... i asked my teachers to predict my grades..
my chemistry teacher said B/C
and my biology teacher said E. wtf.. I HATE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrr -
Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistrySection A(Original post by merin)
does anyone know which section carries the most marks in this paper? section A or B? thanks -
Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistryI have felt your anger before. My predicted grades for A-level were DDDD my teachers said I was the laziest person they knew and that I would fail. Encouraging I know =/ First set of exams I got full marks in Chemistry and Biology(Original post by hus11128386)

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS Chemistryim sure this question asked for the enthalpy change for 1 mole at the very end?(Original post by Zytex)
Most people have only just finished the exam lol. Be a bit more patient.
The answer for working out the enthalpy change for the question involving standard enthalpies of formation was -49kJmol-1
Enthalpy change = (sum of the enthalpies of formation for products) - (sum of the enthalpies of formation for reactants) = -49kJmol-1
The answer for the q = mc(delta)T question was -399kJmol-1.
m = 140g, c = 4.18, (delta)T = 7.5
q = 140 * 4.18 * 7.5 = 4389J (for 0.011 moles of substance)
4389/0.011 = 399000J = -399kJmol-1 -

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS Chemistryand we worked out 0.011 or something so did you not have to convert it into one mole?(Original post by Tullia)
And?
im probrably totally wrong:')

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistryDividing by 0.011 does exactly this.(Original post by sophie15)

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS Chemistryoh of course!! i feel so stupid, sorry(Original post by Tullia)
Dividing by 0.011 does exactly this.

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistrySection A is mostly 70 marks Section B 30 marks(Original post by merin)
does anyone know which section carries the most marks in this paper? section A or B? thanks -

Doing some calculations alongside Fusionary using the previous grade boundaries (considering the extreme papers) and the level of difficulty of this Exam
- 90/100 (140 UMS) Full UMS(Original post by Fusionary)
It has affected me because I desperately want 140 UMS and my raw mark is in the range of 87-91. So yeah.
So according to my judgements (which I have worked out before the test) and is in no way biased, an A would be worked out as follows:
(These are the A boundaries)
June 09 - 67
Jan 10 - 71
June 10 - 69
Jan 11 - 71
June 11- 79
Jan 12- 77
Using my logic of discounting the outlying data sets, we can conclude that the A will exactly:
(71+ 69 + 71 /3) leaving us with a prime total of *drum roll*........... 70.3
- 71/100 (112 UMS) A
- 62/100 (98 UMS) BLast edited by PowerPuff; 25-05-2012 at 09:17. -
Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistryWait, so by those standards 53 is a C? Are you sure? I think i got 54, and below a C would kill me.(Original post by PowerPuff)

Is this 50%, Unit 1 30% and the ISA 20%?

i did that exam last year and redid it before i did this exam and there is no way it was harder...it was really easy compared to this year so don't worry, grade boundaries should be average/low(Original post by Scott.M)
Just read through the June 2011 paper and it seemed way harder than this and the grade boundaries for that were 79 for an A... I fear sky-high grade boundaries.
howeverrr ...what i didn't realise until the beginning of this year and will probably put some of you at ease a bit more is don't forget that the individual grades for each unit really don't matter in the slightest. You are all aware that the grade boundaries change...75 ums might be an A one year but a B the next...all that matters is that you have 75 ums. get me?? make ums targets for yourselves not grades. I am so much happier knowing that i only have X amount of ums to get my overall grade, unit grades mean nothing so stop fretting over grade boundaries and more about how the raw marks will be scaled up

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistryI know that feeling all too much, for some reason thought that tetra meant three, even with the four numbers in front on that questions - faceplam.(Original post by EllaBella<3)
Any grade boundary estimates??
It's horrible knowing that you crossed out a right answer and replaced it with utter rubbish :/

Re: AQA CHEM2 ~ May 23rd 2012 ~ AS ChemistryI did that with the question about which substance produces the brown colour. I crossed out iodine and wrote down KCl. I said to myself tha this would happen yet i still decide to do it(Original post by Muppet Science)

54 is about a C most of the time, D when the grade boundaries have been high (last 3 papers).
It's 33.3% Unit 1, 46.6% Unit 2 and 20% ISA
