Yea we started that, and we started topic 8 too because we have 2 chem teachers different lessons they do different halves each

Yeah, so do we :smile: I think with our other teacher we'll start with either alkaline earth metals or he halogens. I can't really remember what she started with last year :s-smilie:

Propagation steps.

Cl. + CH4 gives .CH3 + HCL

.CH3 + Cl2 gives CH3Cl + Cl.

Termination step is when two free radicals combine, for example:

.CH3 + .CH3 gives C2H6

Hope that helps, free radical substitution is really annoying at first and takes a lot of practice until you feel you really understand it. Once you learn the reaction of chlorine with methane you should be able to apply your knowledge to any exam question.
