Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)?Fear not, not true.(Original post by xxpreexx)
Today I was told that you can't get an A* if you resit C3 or C4, but is this actually true?

Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)?I've been told that it's only the A2 core mods that are used to determine A*s :/(Original post by As_Dust_Dances_)
Depends on how you do with C1, C2 and S1 or M1. -
Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)?it is, they meant you still need to get over 480 UMS in total though(Original post by xxpreexx)

Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)? From what I understand, you need to get at least 80% of the total UMS marks (so that includes all the other mods) and then 90% of UMS marks in C3 and C4.(Original post by Killki06)
Hey, I'm in year 12 at the moment. I'd really like to get an A* next year but i dont understand... does it not matter what you got in all the other modules?? so long as you get <90% in C3 and C4? -
Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)?
so as long as you have a total of 420 including an average of 90 in each C3 and C4 exam you get an A* overall? So if you score average of 80 in all three AS modules then 90 in C3 and C4 and nothing in your final one so it equals 420 exactly; you still get an A*?
What if you do not get average of 90 in C3 and C4 - can you still get an A*? Do you have to average 480 instead? -
Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)? You need 480 UMS overall (80% of the max) including 180 UMS from across C3 and C4 (90% average) to get an A* in maths. You have to meet both of these conditions to get the grade.(Original post by beki_moocow)

Re: A* at A-level for maths (ocr mei)? No, you need 180ums or more from C3 and C4, then the ums from the other modules plus C3 and C4 must add up to 480. So if you scrape A*'s in C3 and C4 you'd need 300 ums from C1, C2, S1 and M1.(Original post by meatsix)

But this equals 500?? -

I really want at least one A* next year and maths is the only subject I think I can get it in.
