Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012Heyyy I did it on abortion, what did u pick? I thought it was quite hard!! The questions are normally about religious and ethical principles but because it said only religious principles, and why they should be used, I went on t say how people would think that the relevant ethical principles are more appropriate(Original post by ROSSYROO)
Hey, I just wanted to know if anyone is doing the:
EDEXCEL RELIGIOUS STUDIES
UNIT 2 "INVESTIGATIONS"
exam on January 20th ?
What have you studied, and what do you think of the exam?
-
Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012I saw it as a either religious or non-religious, aka sancity of life against quality of life and other various factors. Was a brillant question but I didn't revise for it(Original post by Lucy_x)

Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012What do you mean? I've been fretting since the exam that I've answered the question wrong!(Original post by Silver Aurora)
I saw it as a either religious or non-religious, aka sancity of life against quality of life and other various factors. Was a brillant question but I didn't revise for it
So I basically did like, for example, some people feel you should apply sanctity of life bla bla mentioned the strengths, and then some people feel it shouldn't be applied and went through the strengths, and then said how a non-religious principle would serve better e.g. Situation ethics instead of using one set principle. Does that make sense to you?!
I wouldn't usually mind, but I'm a vet school offer misser and reapplicant, and I really don't want to do more exams in June! -
Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012I basically argued that religion should never be the cornerstone belief in our society. I wrote about religion and their stance; then ethical theories (and if they offer an alternative to religion) and then the law - and how it has shifted away from religion(Original post by Lucy_x)

Would you say that's okay? I'm really concerned
Plus the question threw me a little when it said not as I've been doing everything for how it can be a cornerstone belief; so had to quickly spin things on its head!! -
Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012And yeah I thought it was quite hard too by the way!(Original post by Lucy_x)

I talked about religion - and what their views are
I talked about ethical theories - and whether they instead should be followed
I talked about the law - and how society has shifted away from religion (thus supporting the statement)
And an evaluation after each paragraph and at the end.
What do you think of that dude? I'm quite worried! -

I did the same for religions and their views. I mentioned and touched upon ethical theories. I sorta talked about law and society, I just stated how most hospitals and the West in general works on utilitarian views.
I think you got a B at the very least but now this has got me thinking that I lacked a lot of structure and was much more critical than I should of been perhaps but then again, the question was kind of from a critical stance so I left off from there

Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012I think that's the way to do it haha. I sorta did the same thing aha. How much did you write?(Original post by Lucy_x)

Aha, well my teacher was grading my essays previously, and the mocks, at 100%. Which I really hated because a) it's added pressure b) It's practically impossible to get full marks c) After getting graded so highly, it would be kind of disappointing - although I'd be overjoyed with an A seeing as that was my first ever A-Level exam!
(please don't think I'm being big-headed!
I just wanted to know whether you thought I answered it right. In short, my argument was that religion did, but no longer, and never will, be considered when concerning abortion (in the face of unwanted pregnancy.)
I wrote 11 pages by the way! And yours seems far more critical than myself - so you must have done very, very well!

Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012Ah I wish I had teachers like you haha! I get the opposite. No no it's not bigheaded and hope it goes well! I am resitting this from last year!(Original post by ROSSYROO)

I wouldn't of said 'never will' be considered again, what about religious people? They're of course gonna consider religion as the main factor in getting an abortion.
11 is a lot! That's like the entire bookley isn't it?
Ah I hope so lol! -
Re: Edexcel religious studies exam 2012Haha, I just thought I'd make a big, lasting statement at the end. My stern and blunt view may be quite convincing to an alcohol-induced marker?(Original post by Silver Aurora)
