Apparently, there's going to be a 'party/disco' at somepoint during the week at Cambridge (St. Johns). Am I the only person who thinks this sounds really, really awkward? XD
Can anyone who went last month shed some light on this? (assuming the same thing happened for you guys)

It'll be fine. You have a nice formal dinner, which is basically where you dress up a little and have a nice posh meal. Shortly after that, you head off for a little 'disco'. It's more like a leavers do where you can 'bust some moves'.

Btw, we didn't have enough time to change so whatever you wear to the formal dinner will have to suffice for the disco too.

Ah yeah, I saw about that in the email they sent but didn't know they were at the same time. So take it this is on the Thursday night?

Btw, how was the summer school in general, in your opinion?

I just got my pack thing in the post today, definitely reassigned to "Heritage" at Van Mildert, Durham. I love how we can have dinner at a different college too though. The fancy dress carnival and celebration dinner both sound so fun but now I'll need to think of what to wear! (Any girls wearing heels or just flats? I'm not sure how dressy it would be - and I'm pretty short...)

Oh and was it just me amused at how they told us to refrain from bringing toasters and kettles? They totally ruined my plan to bring them...
What do we wear to the carnival themed party pineapples on our heads and glittery bras!? Im a girl btw god knows if we wear heels :/

Hey! Just saw this now. Ohh I have no idea what to wear for the carnival theme- I was thinking about wearing clothes that kind of pass of as being an animal? Or some kind of colourful clothing to be an exotic bird... sounds crazy, but we have a few hours on the day to "be creative" and make masks so it should be fine

Oh and a TSR guy generously made a facebook group for all of us going to Durham! The link is here if you want to join: http://www.facebook.com/groups/125813224226807/ - it's basically all of us talking about train arrangements, subjects, and panicking over what carnival clothing means

YAY! I got a phone call today at work to let me know that I got onto the Education summer school at Caius, 13-17 August! (I actually jumped around the room, my boss looked really scared by me...!) I'm going from Yeovil, changing at London. Anyone going that way?

Edit: just read back a few pages on here, and realised that actually I hope my train tickets arrive in time. Oh dear. Has anyone who was meant to be on the course in the first place received theirs yet? I really hope I don't end up alone in London - I'm quite familiar with it but sitting alone at Kings Cross with a suitcase doesn't really fill me with joy!

I'm going from London.. though I'm going to St. Johns. I think they'll be a big group of us from London, it's a very popular route afaik, for obvious reasons XD

Yep, it's on the final night. My experience was slightly different because of my illness. But, in general, it was amazing!

Has everyone already got their train tickets for Cambridge? I'm still waiting for mine and I'm not sure if I should be!

Nope, I haven't either. I don't know why they leave it so late!

Is anyone taking the tube from paddington to kings cross arriving at 15:54 because my mother is worrying about me going alone and it's really stressing me out and driving me crazy? If you have a similar route to me (Zoe Chandler) could we please arrange to meet up just to keep my mum happy thanks.
