RIP Megaupload

I'm afraid this could be the first of many. :frown:

First, they let us taste it. Then, they take it away... leaving us yearning for more.

So true. I swear there is already a thread somewhere on here about this.

They are 'late' because of the response to SOPA, now millions more have signed against it and senators have turned their view around.

Effectively what they have done is what SOPA would allow them to do but they had to do more effort, making the site a rogue site and such

Funny how this happens amidst all this nonsense and peoples response to it isn't it?

IT's a big 'We are American, we don't need a bill to pass to do what the **** we want'

The more serious question is that how long has it taken the US govt to shut down this site.

They needed evidence of a crime being committed by those that run the site, had SOPA been in place they could of done all this without evidence however only within the US unless they got co-operation outside the US to shut down a site as they have done here.

However to arrest a foreign national in a foreign country is a step too far, this is like the extradition of O’Dwyer which should not of happened... even under US law he isn't breaking the law by linking to hosted stuff... off topic I know but the US pisses me off with their whole attitude to doing what they like :colonhash:

My real concern is how they can catch people living in other countries for breaching US law even though the local law doesn't ban this act

I doubt he wanted it shut. I think he just means that Megaupload has been a well known place to illegally download stuff for a long time and it suprises him that it hasn't been shut down sooner.

Pretty much this.

Also, think of all the people who back-up their files with MegaUpload or distribute their own work/creations using MegaUpload legally! Now their files are at the mercy of the US Government. MU did a wonderful job of removing all of the copyrighted material it was asked to take down anyway.

For those of you interested in conspiracies, take a look at this link.

It was one of the best sites to watch movies on - they want to make us suffer till the last drop of blood but we unite and say NO! to the elite when we combine our intelligence and create one megabrain to distract the government and hit them in the back like they do to us on a daily basis. I'm on a laptop and typing on the keyboard feels nice so I'm going to continue to write utter nonsense but if you're interested in what my organs as well as my penis have to say then keep reading and reading till I spin your head round and round and round. Let's get back to the point of our plan and collaboration to reliate against the dark forces who want to keep us in the dark and transform us into unintelligent and moronic animals that live life for greed and power hence sympathy for all the others around the world who have much less then we do is eliminated. Wooo.
Looking forward for the next one to replace it.
