University league table
Hi!
I am an international student who studies my first year in the UK. I am enjoying my time here, but since it is more expensive for me to study here than in my own country I would like to see some "proof" that my university course has a good reputation. Although, because I am studying Landscape Architecture I can't find any league tables where my course is included. I can't apply it directly to neither Architecture or Geography in the league tables. There are not so many places where you could study LA in the UK, and most universites consider themselves to be the top school.. I would really appreciate any help to find out which school that is considered the best one in the country and to find out whether my university is considered a "good one".
Thank you so much in advance!
Cheers!

Re: University league table
I study Town Planning and our department is pretty closely linked the LA, a lot of their students had to take Planning modules in first year and similar material is taught (granted LA is more heavily focused around design). Maybe try looking at league tables for that?
If I'm being honest with you, league tables are never going to be a great indicator of how good your course/uni is as there are so many determining factors. Does it matter if your university is a ''good one'', you're already at uni now so there is not much you can do - I don't know why you didn't ask this question before you picked a uni to go to... If you really apply yourself and get a good grade then I think employers will overlook how high up a league table your university was. -
Re: University league tableIf you actually mentioned what uni you go to, it would allow people give better responses.(Original post by Buenobueno)

And league tables don't matter much, especially for something as specific as Landscape Architecture. -

Re: University league table
League tables are generally . . . a pile of tosh. They are very easy to manipulate, and this is why there is one league table out there that places Bucks New at the top. 'Nuff said on that matter, I think.
A better option would be to tell us what uni you go to and and ask people's opinions on that. -
Re: University league table
Mooooose, don't know if you are still looking at this thred, but I would most definately like to know what your mum has to say on the subject. Currently considering going back and doing a conversion course in Landscape Architecture but would like to know where it is worth going and if it is a field that one can get a job in!

If you told us what uni you went to I could help, as my mum is in the Landscape Architecture business so knows what unis are the strongest in terms of who's producing the best graduates.
