A Level Art or Geography - Can't Decide
I'm currently in the process of applying for my local Sixth Form, and after submitting my application with my chosen subjects, I am having second thoughts.
I've chosen to take English Language, English Literature, Politics and Fine Art. I'm having doubts about Fine Art though, as I'm not sure I have the ability to progress from GCSE to A Level art, and I'm considering replacing it with A Level Geography. I'm struggling to decide at the moment, as I'm not sure which would be a more valuable option and how work intensive they would be combined with the other subjects I've chosen? I would only be taking Fine Art/Geography at AS Level, by the way. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I did both art and geog at GCSE, but only carried on Geog to A level.
Geography was fine at AS, not the most stimulating subject in the world but it was interesting enough and manageable. Tbh if your only taking it to AS it shouldn't matter too much.

Btw the reason I didn't take on art is because I was ****ing awful at it . So yeah I don't think it gets any easier at A level.

I don't think it matters that much considering you're only doing it to AS. I suppose Geography would be the more respected subject if you want to do an academic degree. I've just started Geography at AS and I'm finding it OK so far (although the geographical skills component is quite dull). The content is straightforward in comparison to other subjects such as History or English Lit.

My friends who have taken Art all complain about the huge workload, but you might be grateful for the contrast - sometimes you can feel like an essay writing machine when you're taking mostly humanities subjects.

I took art at as and geo until A2. From my experience people only did art if they aimed to do it beyond 6th form, as it takes up ALL your time. Seriously, the workload is ridiculous and it made my other subjects suffer. It really depends on what you what/like to do.

Just to add, I'm thinking of going on after my A Levels to do a BEd at university and become a primary school teacher. The main reason I chose art in the first place was because I thought it might be quite a useful, original, stand-out subject on my CV, compared to the more academic subjects I've picked, plus I enjoy it anyway, but thanks for the advice - I'm definitely going to have a good think about possibly changing it to geography because of the huge workload. I'm not 100% decided yet, but thank you - the advice is really useful to me.

A level art does have a huge workload, but only if you don't keep on top of it! If you're good at time management then i'd say go for it. If you do really enjoy art then it provides a good stress relief when your doing loads of essays ect.
