    Hey everyone,

I am still waiting on confirmation of which college I will be a member of, my status is currently "under consideration by college" I have been unsuccessful with my first choices, does anyone have any insight into what happens next and why it is taking so long.

    Thanks

Hey mate you mind me asking what were your first choices? From what I know you're gonna be passed on to colleges that usually pool applicants until you get a place - the less competitive colleges, could be St. Edmund's, Hughes, Homerton (despite this being a category A college). Darwin's also a less competitive college but I haven't really read about people being pooled by it. Does each college just notify you by email whilst your status remains 'under consideration by college'?

Omega85, to my knowledge, your application will be circulated to other colleges until one of them takes you. But rest assured, you WILL BE in a college no matter what.

On the other hand, i am crossing my fingers everyday...so nervous, still under consideration by department!! Argh!!

My preferences were Trinity and St. Johns. What do you mean by a category A college?

It just updates in the system to say "unsuccessful at St. Johns"

From my recent extensive research (a bit pointless after having already applied and been confirmed...), Trinity gets filled really early. This website should give you an idea of the colleges according to how oversubscribed they are (categories A, B and C that is).

    http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/students/...ges/facts.html

I only realised this existed after I applied, but then again, most PG accom doesn't really form part of college life - my opinion is it's rather secluded from it since half the graduates would have stayed on from the college (friend groups formed), and the other recently arrived half would be segmented since most of PG accom is outside the main college grounds, except for Magdalene. Also from what I've gathered, Jesus College seems to be the 'best' of the old colleges with it's large PG intake and clustered PG accom (still outside but mostly on one street close to the main site). Not sure why I'm ranting on about this, given the boredom I'm facing and college research I'm undertaking, I feel like I have a lot to share lol...

Wish I had done all this research earlier on, but it still looks like I've made the right college choice (I think...).

Just moved to "awaiting decision by BoGS". I wonder how long it will take at this point? Is it still a month? And then college? Oh, boy...

Tentative congratulations! Which colleges did you list?
    ...so - Cambridge or Oxford?

    Tentative thank you

I listed first choice St Johns (expect to be rejected, of course) and second choice - Peterhouse (maybe?).

Yeah, this is a tough one. My wife is for Cambridge, of course, which is more practical. It will also depend on the college choice (to some degree) and what the offer will be like (although I already have my degree and I informed them of the result, which is maybe why they have decided to accept me, since my GPA went up to 3.885 and I got Magna Cum Laude). I am also getting a bit concerned about the timing, since I still have to get an actual offer and be accepted by the college, and who knows how long this will take? But I suppose there is still enough time till at least August. In the meantime I will be doing additional research on the program, looking closely at all the reading materials, etc. I did some of that, of course, but to make a final decision will take a lot more. I do take it seriously

I think the highest GPA condition I've seen for Cam is 3.85, so you should be fine. Good luck with the colleges. From the other thread it sounds like BoGS is moving faster now they are over the hump of applicants so hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

    Hopefully you are right.

In the end of the day I think I go with Cambridge, after all. Seems better option than Oxford program.

LOL finally! Email the secretary and she'll give you your offer - that's what I did as soon as my app went to BOGS and I got a reply the same day with my offer conditions.

the secretary will email you your offer details?
by the way, is there going to be a hardcopy offer letter mailed to one's address?

    thank you!!

If you email the sec asking her you've just been put through to BOGS, now what? She'll tell you that the department has recommended you to the BOGS with a condition of XX% and how much longer the process will take. I got my official offer through mail, it only took 2 weeks at BOGS stage for me.

Wow gigi2183 yeah I'm quite surprised myself! But yeah like janjanmmm said, you wanted to go to LSE either way right?

No probs vet4snak! I just hope I make my offer... exams didn't go FABulously so the month long wait till results come out is as frustrating as it can get! What colleges did you list down btw?

I put first choice Darwin coz I really wanna meet a lot of people from different backgrounds, and just randomly chose Caius as second coz it just sounded nice lol. I got into Darwin like 2 days after I got my offer - not sure if that means they're a bit despo? Idk... But from what I've gathered it's the best for socializing!

Not to mention it's right next to the Land Econ Department - and I have issues with distance and lectures. Food is okay, I'll go the distance, but lectures......

As for the letter, unless my flatmates burned it, nope didn't get one. I think you just accept online and send your transcripts right? Then you're supposed to get a letter of confirmation? That's how I'd have assumed it went.
