Hi guys. Nice to see all you fellow applicants for Cambridge REF. I applied some time in first week of February and is still awaiting for that change in status to "Consideration for BoGS".. A friend of mine had that for his application to MPhil Management and received his confirmed offer one week later.

Currently, I also have an offer from LSE's MSc REEF. Anyone else in the same predicament? It would be great if you could share any opinions you have on that course...
We applied about the same time...so if you hear anything, please let me know!

Btw, i called up the Real Estate Finance team in the Land Eco department...The only thing they said is that most decisions will be in april/may and if we hear early its a rejection....Now i kinda dont understand...are they muddling with me...

Pretty good situation to be in haha. LSE and Imperial are excellent, but I'm assuming you'd want Cambridge?

Depends what they mean by "decisions". Department decisions? or offers?
Because if your status changes from "under department/degree committee" to "under BoGS", it is not a decision yet, really. And it takes about a month AFTER THAT to get an actual offer. Akkuz will probably get an offer some time in April, and he has nothing official yet, only status change he can see online, same for many other people.
Maybe this is what they mean?

In any case I would like to know if the guy who completed on Jan 26 and then asked if he can get an offer "by the end of February" heard anything yet, people negged me when I told him chances of that happening are close to zero and he should not expect anything until mid March. Looks like I may have been too optimistic! (posts #10 and #11)

So what's the typical applicant like for this course?

I am assuming a first class bachelors with work experience on property/finance ?

I think the Department does take its time. Last year, I think they started making recommendations to BoGS around the end of March?

Guys, can I ask about your motivations for picking this course with a real estate specialisation vs. a pure finance MPhil/MSc? Thanks

Of course there are many reasons to choose one degree over another, but one reason why one might choose the MPhil in Real Estate Finance over the MPhil in Finance could be the 35% acceptance rate. Take a look: MPhil in Real Estate Finance, MPhil in Finance

Yeah, one reason, plus Real Estate does not ask for GRE/GMAT
And I always liked Real Estate, something more tangible compared to pure Finance.

Oh, I guess I missed that I looked at number of similar top level programs, Oxford, LSE, Imperial, most of them seemed to want GRE or GMAT.
Well, anyway, it is much easier to get into Real Estate, and I still do like Real Estate.
    Thank you, Same to you.

Ah, I see... so are there reasons other than ease of entry? From what I've been able to gather, it's not similar to the finance course at all - career wise it looks like it's designed to support a career specifically in real estate.

a friend of mine has applied for this course. His overall is 2.2 (58/100). Is there any chance to get an offer?
