Work evidence.
Welcome to the School of African and Oriental Studies: where prospective and current students can discuss everything from RESPECT and the student union, to whether the female population is really the hottest in South England.

Work evidence.
Would it be a good idea to scan and send in all of my self taught work to SOAS? I'm trying to give them as much material to look at to determine whether or not I'm a decent candidate because I'm applying as a mature student and I don't have standard qualifications (the highest I have is a QCF level 4).
Cheers! -
Re: Work evidence.
Are they certificates or programs you enrolled in for independent study? I'd include a separate packet with a cover letter that states what it is; from my experience there are several mature students with non-standard qualifications in my class. There are people around here who can give you better advice, but I did what I just suggested when I applied. I'm not a mature student though so don't know if that makes a difference.

Re: Work evidence.Try to get an informal interview 'to discuss the course' with the head of dept. Then take your work and make a good impression. If they decide they want you then it doesn't mean you will definitely get in but I know a lot of people with non-standard qualifications (myself included) who got in partly due to doing this.(Original post by Kukukichu)

The problem with submitting it with the UCAS application is that I don't know how much of the paperwork actually ends up with the people making the decisions since its mostly electronic now. Also, SOAS admin is terrible and they will probably lose it. But SOAS is small enough that getting on people's radar often gets you noticed as an individual.
