Earth Science / Geology

I thought I will open a thread abt ES/ Geology. I'm applying for the course, but which unis are good for the subject? Any comments from current students? :rolleyes:

Fantastic Environmental Science / Earth and Environmental Science department.
What makes it so good?#
First year degree structure is very flexible (you take 5 core modules for Environmental Science, 10 for Eath and Environmental Science plus core modules if you don't have Alevel Maths or Chem), but you can chose from a wide range of other modules to take from other departments as well. Second year is set modules and for third year you chose a theme to study depending on what interests /career ideas you have.

Rated 5 for research. We have the oppurtunity to see a variety of different research, volcanism, hydrology, tetonics, atmospheric pollution, all of which is at a very high level. Kind of nice to have the variety as they bring it into the lectures a lot.

Great support offered through the teaching office, postgrads, lecturers, all are really friend.

Awesome location for field work. close to the lakes, scotland yorkshire dales and they have a weather station (hazelrigg) as well. Lots of fieldwork oppurtunities. Good ratio between field work/lab work and lectures.
