It's annoying how the revised rep system basically forces you to do that, isn't it?

Very annoying. Though there are some posts in H&R that deserve rep, just for how hilarious they are. Same but less so with the Religion subforum

    :console: :hugs: :console:

In other news, I have found a PG Cert I would like to do before potentially doing a PhD. Why does everything study-related cost so much, argh?!

(This is partly the motivation for getting the BBC internship. 9K for six months  A lot of which can be saved for potential further study or taking my mum on holiday, since I can live at home and have free travel  )

Argh. PRSOM on here and out of rep for the day.

Seems I upset a high school kid on another thread by suggesting he wasn't qualified to answer questions on postgrad admissions

CSI night here, about to start. Curled up on sofa, cat on feet, all ready

Tiz a PG Cert in the Theory and Method in the Study of Religion. I figure it might be a good for crossing over into the ethnographic study of religious music. Little information on how much it costs and how exactly the course is run, though. In any case, this would be to start in 2013 at the very very earliest

Apparently part of the course is given over to writing proposals too, which could be handy :ahee:

    Course sounds good!

Ah, not fussed about the kid - more amused - but again an example of why I wish people would be really careful about getting advice off the net!

Thanks. It's at Kent Uni, which would just involve the odd train ride from London hopefully! We'll see whether I get this internship and what comes of my plans to save money

    Definitely :sadnod:

My fiance did his Masters at Kent and grew up in Canterbury if you have any questions about it, TLG
    (Original post by hobnob)
Craggy says I should just have squealed 'awww cute!!!' to scare it away, so I've made a mental note of that for next time, as a last resort. Not sure what that will do to the poor person writing an exam at the opposite end of the table, though...:p:
No I did not :huff: I commented that most people would have thought 'awww cute', on seeing a squirrel. I never said you ought to verbally express the sentiment, let alone squeal it.
Nevertheless if I were to have suggested a practical solution it would have been for you to reach towards it and wave your hand. That would have scared away the squirrel with minimal disturbance of the student.

Good to have you back with us, Craggy :hugs: The whole Kent thing is very tentative at the moment but if it begins to materialise, it would be great to hear from your fiance about the uni. Thanks for the offer :hugs:

"to reach out towards it and wave your hand": for some inexplicable reason, when I read that, I thought of hobnob waving a wand and saying "wingardium leviosa!" :getmecoat:

Just had a gander - looks good. As far as I'm aware though, a PG Cert won't get you into a PhD, you'll need the full MA... (as there's no dissertation with the PG Cert). Nice place to study though

Welcome back Craggy - did you get your work done?

I'm having a meh moment, LDRs suck good and proper, especially as I can't do the contacting

:jumphug: bout the LDR. Sounds really tough :console:

 OK, clearly hadn't quite thought this through. That said, the plan would be to do a PhD in Musicology or Ethnomusicology, rather than Religious Studies. So my Goldsmiths MA would count, right?

Well my supervisors are letting me hand it in on Sunday now, since I told them about the conference I'm in York for tomorrow and Friday. It was originally due Friday which is why I wanted to finish it today. I'm half way through now, so still in the thick of it. But now I feel a bit more hopeful about getting through it on time.
