Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackAnd Glover/Stanning in the women's pair
I had a great row this evening. I am leaving my old rowing club because I want to push myself a bit more and my current club doesn't have the coaching or kit to allow me to do that and so I am trying out various others to see which one I want to switch to. This evening I subbed into what is probably the most likely one for me to join. Such a good outing. Fast, technical, and a really good coach on the bank who gave me some things to work on. Fairly convinced that I will join them. Although I will have to put up with people having a go at me for defecting it will be worth it. -
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackThat's a very useful factoid, thankyou(Original post by Cora Lindsay)
[Useless factoid]
When you get them back home the night before your wedding, fill a bowl with water then, under water, cut about an inch off the stems and leave them to stand in the water. While you're transporting them, the plumbing in the stems will suck in air and, if you just shove them back in water, that air will block the passage of water up the stems. By cutting off the bottom inch or so, you cut off the airlocked bits, and allow the stems to take up water properly overnight.

Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes Back
I'm fuming. A friend of a friend (someone I met through my girlfriend) bought a hamster last month. She doesn't reguarly get up before 4pm and goes out pretty much every night, so much so that she almost got kicked off her course. We told her that this wasn't her smartest idea but she went ahead and bought it.
Turns out if you feed a baby hamster leftover dominos pizza crust with garlic herb sauce once every few days or so because you are 'too poor' to afford hamster food the baby hamster doesn't last very long. It's taking a lot of restraint to not give her a very large piece of my mind at the moment. -

Don't know if I would exercise such restraint tbh.

Completely agree - and the RSPCA regularly prosecute cases of wilful neglect. If the least she gets is a *******ing from some uni mates I think she will be getting off lightly.(Original post by Craghyrax)
I would report her. -

We won a rowing gold
(please don't hate me for being excited, cos you guys are gonna win so many more medals than us anyway...)
I doubt anything will beat Le Clos beating Phelps though. SA social networks still going crazy over that!

Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackOh FFS. A bag of hamster food costs less than a dominos pizza and lasts for ages. That would make me so angry.(Original post by Aeschylus)

Le Clos was excellent as well
Also, here in Norway they're loving Cameron Van de Burgh because he dedicated his win to Alexander Dale Oen (the Norwegian swimmer who suddenly died earlier this year). The commentators were crying and everything. -
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes Back
Wrote 1,500 words of dissertation yesterday and am on 2,000 so far today. If I can keep this up over the next 2 weeks, I might even be able to submit on time

Please all keep your fingers crossed for me
My psychiatrist is ignoring me, which isn't helping matters
