Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackIf you like, I can PM you details of how to see them via my account, just as a one off?(Original post by *Corinna*)
Oh noooooo! I am not
if she tagged craggy I can see them though *goes to check*
...comes back disappointed. Nothing there
-
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackYay, glad you found them!(Original post by *Corinna*)
Oh, scarlet ibis, your fb page is open to non friends as well, so I managed to find the pictures!
I am simply stunned at her beautiful wedding dress!!! What a unique choice! Oh, I'm so happy for her
It's a gorgeous dress isn't it?
-
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackI wanted to wear a pink saree for my hypothetical wedding but have decided that when the time comes, I will wear white and just stick my bridesmaids in pink(Original post by *Corinna*)
I'm (an appropriate amount of) jealous
I also adore the alba's. They both made amazing choices and I'm glad they went against the white wedding dress convention cause I wanted to go against it as well but I worried that everyone would think its weird.
Though I'm not sure pink would suit my older sister's skin tone so well
Might have to be dark pink
-
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackWhy not wear pink? I know the traditional wedding colors in india are red and purple, what are the traditional colors in your culture?(Original post by The_Lonely_Goatherd)

And anyway, when the happy day comes you ll be the bride so you ll be able to wear whatever color you like
-
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackIt depends on religion. Christian Sri Lankan brides always wear white, if they're having a Christian ceremony(Original post by *Corinna*)

I think my dad's side of the family would find some reason to find it scandalous if I wore a pink saree, tbh. They're uber-traditional
On the other hand, I'm tempted just to elope to Gretna Green
Though my mum would never forgive me!
First thing's first, though. Need to find a groom
-
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackYeah some aunts from my family are traditional too and I know they aren't too happy about me not marrying in a Christian ceremony (since my bf is not christian) but thankfully they disapprove in an understanding way (meaning they'd rather he was Christian but like him anyway(Original post by The_Lonely_Goatherd)

Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackYou are very lucky. My parents and his parents have both accepted our relationship but, assuming we get married eventually, it's going to be complicated.(Original post by *Corinna*)

what makes it complicated? Religion, culture?

Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackOh...well, as long as you two are happy this should be OK for your parents. If it isn't then it's really their problem. My friend's cousin married a British man (she is Greek, so orthodox) and he converted before they married.(Original post by Little Jules)
My family are actively Jewish, his family are actively Christian! -
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackOf course, but we are close to our families so it's tough. And although we are happy together, it's not what either of us had planned!(Original post by *Corinna*)

Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackYeah I understand the problem. I have a similar problem in that in Greece it is tradition for babies to be baptized. Its something that literally everyone does. It's unheard of to not baptize your child. Before that day the baby is not even officially named. Even though I am not an active Christian this is a tradition that I like and would really want to follow. But of course it carries significant religious connotations (among social and cultural ones) so it would be unfair of me to force my partner into a decision he is not comfortable with.(Original post by Little Jules)

So yeah...it would be nice if this wasn't an issue. -
Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackSame boat here, except gf is a pretty committed atheist. We've skirted round it before in true British fashion.(Original post by Little Jules)

Re: GOGSoc Episode V: The GOG Strikes BackSimilar for my husband and me,except neither families particularly "active" so that made it a bit easier! We did battle to find an interfaith minister (most interfaith ones being Christian interfaith only) but eventually found a wonderful person who helped us draw up some amazing vows.(Original post by Little Jules)

And Zoe - re the reps, well, GOGs love good news
And I've been waiting to use "urgle" in a post....so now I can say: Urgle. Much as I tried, could not come up with any good puns on giant birds
if she tagged craggy I can see them though *goes to check*
