Hey guys, hope you're all well.

Thinking of applying to this UNIQ summer thing or maybe Sutton Trust hmmm. What have other people put in their PS, just out of interest ? (Obviously not too specific)

Also just noticed they're doing an Oncology course as well, anyone doing this, any ideas about it?

Oh, also i got a job offer as a Health Care assistant in a dementia and Alzheimers Nursing Home, which is pretty awesome, scary though...:colondollar:

Apply for both - you literally have nothing to lose.
Its free to apply to both and whilst the criteria may be slightly different between UNIQ and ST its still worth a shot!
As for our Oncology course take a look at the PDF on our home page as we have a little bit of info up now about some of our 'less traditional' courses.
We close in a matter of days but I know ST has applications open for a few more weeks so thats worth bearing in mind.

I dont think so sorry to quote but ox say "Oncology promises to be an amazing course. It is new for 2012 and is innovative
in its approach.
If you’re doing any combination of science subjects at A level and have an interest
in healthcare, in medical research or you are just plain curious about the study of
cancer, then this course is definitely one you should be considering.
Some students may be deterred because there is no direct connection to any
single undergraduate course, but this difference is one of the strengths of this
course. It is interdisciplinary. It will challenge you to use your scientific
knowledge and skills and then it will encourage you to go beyond what you know
and to develop the way you think. Oncology will be the focus of the course
throughout the week but you will consider it from many different perspectives.
As you are taking science subjects at A level, you’re likely to be thinking about
taking a science subject at university. Whatever course you apply for at university
you will be able to use elements of what you learn on this course to demonstrate
your interest and curiosity in this vast subject area. It will give you the starting
point to develop some specialist knowledge and to carry on beyond the course
with further reading. So even if you’ve made your mind up about the subject you
intend to study as an undergraduate, this course is a great way to do something a
bit different.
The undergraduate mentors who will be attending the lessons and supporting you
with your studies throughout the week will be drawn from a variety of different
disciplines and will be able to give you loads of tips and advice about the science
subjects that they are studying at Oxford.
It’s a daring course. It’s new, innovative and will be demanding, but you will gain
such a singular insight into the subject and into a wide variety of science
pathways that are open to you, but which you might not have fully considered"

So it's seem pretty general and unrelated.

I've done so far:

1 week in upper GI

I've planned:

1 week in anaesthetics
1 week with a GP
4 weeks in general surgery

I think its safe to say that I've planned than done enough, but I may want to get a look into neurology

Meh, from experience i'd say the clinical environment always seem to make everything straight to the point without any of the British awkwardness, especially if there's a real problem.

Well the antidote to this is to do something that makes it more likely that you WILL get in, i kinda know what you mean but i guess just look at your application and be honest about your chances.

Nah, not all about work exp. A couple of weeks is fine, universities know how hard it is to get and as long as you have some you'll be fine.
