Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!I know what you mean lol(Original post by IAmMclovin)
Thanks a lot man!
I worked bloody hard for them, but theres still a long road ahead
Scroll up, I posted my UMS scores and everything there. I got all As, which I am very thankful for, I'm so glad I don't have to resit! A lot of medics in our year got Bs and Cs (and lower) in their exams, so I'm glad I'm not in their position! I think the difficulty of AS Levels have come as a real shock to everyone, even some people with 10A* just scraped As in some of their exams. How did your results go?
UCL mateAnd nice, which uni's open day?

I know what you mean, friends of mine wanting to do medicine have ended up with D's, C's, and some U's, a lot of them are very clever, but just unlucky i guess :/
Nice, have fun

Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!I'm so nerdy, I set up a "revision station"...get my notepad in front of me, and then I set up my AQA textbook, my file with class notes, my wider reading massive textbook and the interwebz and write down everything I can find out about a topic :P I'm hugely thorough with my notes, so they usually end up being about 10 pages per chapter, which is a downside...-_-'(Original post by Gcayte)
How does everyone on here tend to revise?
Have you started already for the modules in May?
-
Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!Thanks for that!(Original post by Vulpes)
If you think that resitting those examinations will give you a better chance of an A/A* overall, do it. There really is no reason not to other than being unable to apply to UCL and having to do a bit of extra work. Universities will only take into account your highest module scores anyway so even if you score less than what you have previously done, it won't be counted. That said, Cambridge will require you to declare detailed information on all modular resits.
Depends on where you are intending to apply to really

I'm pretty sure retaking would help (since my chem coursework was 1 off an A), just wanted someone else's opinion.
Hoping to apply to Oxford, Bristol, Exeter (Peninsula) and Southampton

Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!oh thanks mate, my teachers suggest not to resit so i am gonna make sure i know unit 2 inside out!(Original post by AtomicMan)
I made sure I knew the textbook like the back of my hand, then did all the relevant past papers from like 2002 -
Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!oh wow really? for me it was because so many people got distracted by the jan exams, the majority didn't perform very well in May :/ and I have 3 maths exam, 2 bio, 2 chem and 2 pscyhology exams all in period of 2-3 weeks :'((Original post by Pride)
no same, all my exams are in may also. that's c1, c2, s1, 2 bio exams, 2 chemistry and 2 economics exams.
apparently, it was because too many people didn't work hard to get what they were expecting because they thought they could just resit.
woah, how do you have 11 exams in may :O do you take 5 subjects? how are you coping?!!(Original post by Natalie21)
I had 2 exams in Jan and I still have 11 in May :/ (Plus any resits :'( )
Ooooh yayyy :/
Thank you
I'm glad someone understands ... I just hope chemistry exam won't turn out to be chemisery exam...(Original post by TaraBelle)
I have 9 exams in may too, I feel your pain with the building stress...

-
Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!Well technically I take 6 but there Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Geography, General Studies and A2 Critical Thinking :P(Original post by chiny94)

Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!Good thank you
2As in OCR Maths (93) and A2 Critical Thinking (94)
How about you?
Sometimes no matter how much you revise if a bad question comes up than it is down to luck - but you're right most of it is due to hard work :P(Original post by Pride)

Haha I had to read that twice to get it then
but I know, I've got them all in the space of two weeks-one each day apart from one day off
on the bright side, I suppose its good I don't have two on the same day.. um I'm not certain yet, I have 6 A*s at gcse so none of the ones that love gcses, I was thinking like bristol, leicester, nottingham, maybe UCL? I've got some others in mind, but I'll have to see what happened with the UKCAT really :/ so hard! What about you?
-
Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!A2 critical thinking?! Wow my school will never let us take any a2! critical thinking or not! In fact they abolished general studies and critical thinking actually so we don't even get to do it anymore, not that I'm complaining or anything(Original post by Natalie21)

and I have my second chemistry exam and my first psychology exams on the same day
I'm just glad that I'm not taking further maths haha it's really random actually since I have all exams within the 2 week period then I have a week then I have my last psychology exam on the 29th lol ohmygosh I've got 6A*s! We are in sync yeahyyyy well it will all depend on my ums and ukcat but I'm most definitely thinking UCL and Barts but I'm not quite sure about others tbh
I've been to leicester open day but I didn't like it very much, I don't think it would suit me

Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!
What up!
You'll have to excuse my feistiness earlier in the thread 8) on the thursday night but i was a tad disappointed with my results, not shockingly bad or anything, just 'grammar school mentality' really kicks my ass! (Specifically goes out to Pride, and Xotol!)
So just wanted to ask: If im resitting some modules in june, do i have to state that on my UCAS formally?
And there are rumours floating around in college, saying that next year their going to change the system for the way resits are counted, and so it's always your resit mark that goes forward, even if you did better first time around? Does anyone know if there's any truth in this?
Furthermore, a teacher was arguing yesterday, that medschools are likely to penalise you if you have resits (Eg, resitting a low A for an 90+ UMS) because you are taking "resits for the sake of it," - what do you guys think about this? Apparently, even if they say that they don't mind if you have resits within 2 years of your A-levels as part of their selection process because they all, as humans do, have their own views on it?
Thanks in advance!

Re: CURRENT YEAR 12s-Hopeful Medics (Mk. II)!Two As in C1 and A2 Crit Thinking

I was going to - but with my EPQ I don't really have time - have you?(Original post by oli_G)
Did anyone/has anyone written an essay for the Peterhouse competition (cambrige).
?
I think most of the OCR jan exams were terrible - I've heard bad things about the Chem, Bio and Maths ones :/(Original post by halii_94)
Thanks
and OCR for Chem and aqa for bio
both which were very terrible exams
I worked bloody hard for them, but theres still a long road ahead
