Re: The AQA Philosophy AS/A2 Revision ThreadCan I have your Mill notes? I've done most of my Religious philosophy notes done but they're hand written. I could scan them to you if you'd like?(Original post by Mill)
I'll post the rest over the weekend when I can tidy them up a bit
I've got the justice and rights topics finished, not started nation states yet. In religious philosophy I've only got reason and faith completed. I've got 80% of my Mill notes done as well if you need those?

Re: The AQA Philosophy AS/A2 Revision Thread
someone please mark this?
Explain what is meant by a priori and explain one reason why the a priori is philosophically significant [15 marks]
A priori is the gaining of knowledge without sense experience. If you take a certain premise, the conclusion will be 100% certain and you do not need to experience this to have knowledge. One example of an a priori is that all bachelors are unmarried men, By definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man. Therefore, if we take this premise, it is certain that all bachelors are unmarried men. We do not need to find every bachelor on earth and ask if he is an unmarried man, as it is true by definition- a priori truth.
One reason why a priori is philosophically significant is that it goes against the core values of empiricism. Empiricism is where knowledge is gained from sense experience; however with a priori knowledge we do not need sense experience and so it proves not all knowledge comes from empiricism which is philosophically significant. -

Re: The AQA Philosophy AS/A2 Revision ThreadI started with Hume about how a priori knowledge is restricted to analytic truths(Original post by MOSJohn)
what did people put for Reason and Experience?
what did people put for Why should I be Governed?
Then did some stuff on descartes disgreeing
then Kant on how our mind structures experience + how he believes in synthetic a priori
concluded saying humes the boss and kants being too skeptical
