    Re: Conversion course
I presume you mean shortened second registration , rather than a 'conversion course' from 2nd to 1st level

good luck in finding one there are fewer and fewer offered these days, compared to the pre-HE days ( when second registrations were fairly freely available) and the post Allitt push for more RSCNs...

    Re: Conversion course
The title is still 'conversion' to whichever branch in Scotland where there are a few unis still offering. I have applied to convert to childrens but have yet to hear back.

A 'conversion' or 'shortened second registration' is a course to become dual qualified in 2 branches of nursing or adult nursing and midwifery.

    Hey angel_delight
I applied in September with the intention of starting the course in January. I had the interview in November and found.out a week later I had it. However, during the interview the option of starting in September became available so I opted for that so save bit of money but now I miss the opportunity to meet all the people at the interview day! :-(
The interview was ok, you have to do an essay, then a one to one interview which isn't really an interview but verifying your details, you then have to answer some questions based on their code of conduct book and then a group interview based on a picture of a scenario your given your given two minutes to think, u gave to say the positives, negatives, the nurses role in it and how you would change it. This is finished off on a group discussion that one of the interviewees decides the topic on. I think that's it haha

Thanks sarah.k what have you just qualified as? Wow interview sound quite tough compared to my first one lol. I gave them a phone yesterday and they said they were just getting round looking and sending out interviews, so hopefully I hear soon . Were you interviewed with other conversion students or was it just people who were applying for first year aswell? Hopefully they will have an introduction period at the start for you to get to know people? Are you allowed to stay in halls or do you have to find your own place?

Ya its a weird interview! I'm a intellectual disability nurse, or learning disability! Ya d interview was a mixture of people converting and starting from scratch which I can't imagine their marking scheme. how can u mark one person with a nursing background against someone with none????
Didn't get much info on accommodation, there are on campus accommodation but based on people I've spoken to doing it your better off getting your own place mid way between the university and training hospitals because your time us so split. Won't get a chance to meet anyone apart from the interview day so get chatting haha unfortunately because I've gotten the place I don't do the interview again so won't get to meet anybody, hard times ha!

    Re: Conversion course
Is there not many jobs for ld nurses at the moment? I thought they would had inteviewed all conversion students together because of that and that they would be looking for something completely different from someone who was just starting. If I get in I'll probs need to move down but have no idea what they offer. Im at Stirling and they offer conversion courses and I know all the conversion student start a week before everybody and they do a meet and greet session then all m&h sessions and paperwork things so maybe Napier do that. Also I noticed that site UCAS offers YOUGO I think its called but I dont know if that is just for school people or not

I just joined yougo actually! It's for everyone, havnt really gotten going yet with it though. The course starts the 10th of September anyways, hopefully we will get the meet and greet session. There are loads if positions but an embargo on public sector employment in Ireland at the moment. I do have a relief job but i want a bit more medical scope! Are you hoping to do adult conversion?
