Counselling

Hey,

Does anyone know where I can find out about where I could do a counselling diploma or degree, or any places that I could do this at?

Thanks
:wavey:

A lot of colleges do counselling courses, from basic introductory courses to degrees/masters degrees. Entry requirements vary a lot, for example some want you to have done the shorter courses at their college, some will accept any, some don't require previous study, a lot of age restrictions.

There is talk of counselling becoming a degree-entry profession, although at the moment a diploma is enough - usually two years. Qualifying courses tend to be two or three years, although my masters is only one.

Have a look at the BACP for more information about training and accreditation, some courses are accredited and some aren't, which is another thing to consider

Edit: In response to the above post, that relates to counselling psychology, which is a different profession to counselling and requires a psychology degree and a doctorate.
