Re: Psychology AQA A PSYA1 23rd May 2012!
Potential 12 markers that could come up....
Effects of misleading info on ewt
Strategies for memory improvement
CI outline and eval
Outling and eval what research has shown on the effects of disruption of attachment
What research has shown on cultural variations on attachment
Effects of day care -
Not too sure that miss leading info will come up and there was a lot of shorter questions regarding this in the Jan 2012 paper.(Original post by Lackadaisical)

Also there's no AO2 for memory improvement so this won't come up as a 12 marker. Well thats my opinions

Just a question here, when they ask about diruption of attachment, is it the same as asking about deprivation, could you use the relevant resarch? (koluchova twins, etc) -
Oh yeah it could definitely come up as a 6 marker. Most past papers ask 6 mark questions on memory improvement so it's definitely worth knowing a couple of strategies well.(Original post by Lackadaisical)

Yes deprivation is the same as disruption. So you could talk about Bowlby's Deprivation Hypothesis, followed by Bowlby's 44 Juvinele Thieves study which highlighted the negative behavioural consequences, followed by Robertsons work on baby John who was separated from his mother when she was admitted into hospital.
Unfortunately I haven't learnt about Koluchova twins, although I think I've skimmed over their name in my privation section in my textbook? However i am probably wrong! Just make sure you don't get deprivation and privation mixed up.

I've just had a brief look.(Original post by Lackadaisical)
Could anyone who has the time, to please mark this answer. It isnt very good, but please give me feedback. The answer is in reply to 'outline and evaluate research of the effects of disruption of attachment' as it is a potential question
You need to actually outline the procedure of Bowlbys 44 Juvenile Thieves study. Eg talk about where the participants came from (the clinic where Bowlby worked) and also tell the examiner about the procedure (interviewing family and friends of the infants) etc. Also state the findings clearly. Eg 86% of the affection less psychopaths had early separation, compared to only 17% of the emotionally maladjusted group. You also need to do the same with Robertsons research. The majority of marks come from outlining studies. Bare in mind the Aim Procedure Findings Conclusions method.
Also you need to do more evaluating. Evaluate the studies. Bowlbys study used self reports. This could have led to affects of social desirability and demand characteristics. Moreover, Joyce Robertson did a further experiment finding that caring for children in their own homes during separation reduced negative affects etc. You could also use to implications in which research into disruption has had.
Also I see you used the temperament hypothesis. Use it more effectively. State what it is. Don't forget that examiners are dummies so you have to explain exactly what it is you're trying to say in order for it to be creditworthy.
There's a bit of feedback. Don't take it personally, Its only some suggestions and if you don't agree then ignore it

Re: Psychology AQA A PSYA1 23rd May 2012!No you don't necessarily need to remember psychologists names. You could say "A psychological research study involved..." etc.(Original post by Lackadaisical)
Thank you, that was helpful.

If i'm honest I think my ability to provide detailed AO2 has been developed in my A2 units. (I am an A2 student, resitting PSYA1).
I started revising back at Easter too so that is probably how I can remember a lot of content too! PSYA1 is nothing compared to god damn PSYA3 though.. lol. -
What are people's essay structure for questions on miss leading info? I'm lacking detail. I've learnt Loftus and Palmers research which involved participants watching a film of a car accident and then being asked questions etc. and then obviously I can evaluate this to gain some AO2. Then I am thinking I could mention the idea of forced choice questions. Apart from that I am flumpted. Any ideas anyones?

Mention loftus and palmers broken glass/misleading question study.
Loftus's study of the cars (stop and yield study)
And then just critique
Low ecological validity bcoz of labs.
Not representative of real life situations.
Lacks mundane realism.
Participants aerent emotionally involved.
Ethical issues (deception, psychological harm)
Simples ^.^

Re: Psychology AQA A PSYA1 23rd May 2012!As it's a lab study you immediately have a few evaluative points:(Original post by hhh123)

+ Control over variables means:
- Identifies an Independent and Dependent Variable, so it isn't just correlational evidence; you can prove one has an effect on the other.
- Less chance of any pesky extraneous variables.
These both mean it has a higher internal validity (i.e. it tests what it sets out to within the context of the experiment).
- Artificial setting (and in this case, a video so even more unnatural), thus findings cannot necessarily be generalised to settings outside the experiment (i.e. real life). -

Re: Psychology AQA A PSYA1 23rd May 2012!I'm in the same situation so fear no more! My teachers are absolutely rubbish and I literally have zero motivation to revise and do well in the exams because to be honest my teachers don't really give a damn what I get. It's a really bad attitude to have but I'm desperately trying to force myself to revise! I've been writing notes and trying to group different studies/points into mnemonics which is one way to go about learning things.(Original post by BeccaDavis<3)

AwkwardPenguin posted a REALLY lovely download link FULL of revision notes (http://www.mediafire.com/?ysjdtg25v6msu68) so if you're worried about learning the wrong stuff I would look here.
http://psychology4a.com/ is also a really helpful website to understand things, although it doesn't go into much detail. -
I do have the motivation to revise however, developmental psychology just does not want to enter my brain, lol...(Original post by katles)
