    June 2011:

01 Outline the nature of sleep. (9 marks)
02 Consider the consequences of disrupting biological rhythms. (16 marks)
Yes but that's purely the AO2 side of things?!

We hasn't been asked to purely OUTLINE factors disrupting biological rhythms.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyones got informed predictions for what's going to come up on this paper... I'm doing Relationships, Eating Behaviour and Aggression... I've looked through past papers in terms of what's come up and this is what I found:

    Jan 2011
    Relationships: Theories for formation
    Aggression: Evolutionary explanations
Eating: attitudes to food/neural mechanisms to control eating

    Jun 2011
    Relationships: Childhood/Adolescent explanations
    Aggression: Role of neural/hormonal mechanisms
Eating: Psychological explanation of eating disorder (we studies Anorexia in class) / Evolutionary explanations of food preferences

    Jan 2010
Relationships: Evolutionary explanations for parental investment
    Aggression: Explanations of Institutional aggression
Eating: explanations for success/failure of dieting

    Jun 2010
    Relationships: relationships in different cultures
Aggression: genetic factors in aggression/social psychological theory of aggression
Eating: explanations of an eating disorder (again we studied anorexia)

hope this helps you to help me out lol

, I've briefly revised which I really regret - leaving it so late :| really don't know how its gonna turn out but I'm hoping its relatively do-able lol I'm awful at Psychology
Jan 2012 for relationships had an essay question on breakdown.

I know how you feel. I'm cramming relationships right now, should hopefully finish it and most of gender dev tonight. Eating behaviour's okay, so I'm gonna touch that tomorrow.

Honestly why are you writing all of this on this thread -.-

You just need to do your own revision.

People on here are discussing the work, so I'm not sure anybody will even respond to your post.

If you need help I'm sure lots of people will help you if you ask the questions!?

For sleep, i think there's a massive possibility of it being a full 24 marker, as it's always been split into 2, or even 3 questions.

for aggression, there's been 2 24 markers, 3 broken down ones

for eating, there was a 24 marker in January and 2 others in 2010 and 2 broken down. for eating it seems to be in the pattern of 2 essays, 2 broken down, so in January it was a big one so following the pattern.. then again it could all just be a coincidence.

infact we could be highly unlucky and be the year to go 3 full blown essays. go us!

i still dont know what i would write if biosocial approach came up with GenderDy.
or if GD came up on its own....

this exam is SOOO HORRIBLE
I've been trying to work this out for a while now and looking at the spec they've got 'genes and hormones', 'evolutionary approach' and 'Bisocial approach', so I'm thinking they can ask 'discuss the biosocial approach to gender development' but they won't ask 'discuss explanations of gender dysphoria'. But, because gender dysphoria is listed under biosocial I would include it in any essay about biosocial in the way you'd include hormones/genes in an essay about biological factors.

In my essay plan I have described the biosocial and used research to support such as baby X studies and I have then said how it can explain gender dysphoria eg Cotes found a three year old boy developed gender dysphoria as a response to his mother's depression after an abortion. As he was acting like a girl he may therefore have been treated like a girl by those around him and, as it occured at the age of three, which is within the biosocial theory's critical period for developing gender identity, his sense of dysphoria would have stuck.

However, if it does specifically mention gender dysphoria in the question (eg 'Discuss the biosocial approach to gender dysphoria' instead of 'discuss the biosocial approach to gender development') I would include an example of a biological explanation and a psychological explanation and then put in the conclusion how the two factors interact eg being exposed to pre-natal hormones of the other gender and lacking a same-sex role model.

I have come up with this based on some of the other discussion about biosocial on this thread. I hope this has helped and hasn't confused anybody even more!

i have decided i am going to revise relationships like this
touch briefly on formation , breakdown, childhood and adolescene, culture, parental investment.

revise thouroughly for maintenance, sexual selection and human reproductive behavuour and alos parent offspring conflict
once this has been achieved going to do the same for agression and eating behaviours

Yeah social psychological would be a dream Social learning and deindividuation are so easy compared to other parts of aggression.
If I turn over the paper and social psychological is the question, I am going to be very, very happy . I agree, it is easier.

they still asked neural mechanisms after 1 year ! not in the same year so institutional is unlikely
It's definitely less likely to come up, but you never know with AQA....

Hi guys, if someone could simply explain the difference between phase delay and phase advance, I would be very thankful!
These both relate to what your body has to do in order to catch up with local time, i.e why you become jet lagged. Its been found we cope better with phase delay, as we have to delay our sleep time, i.e prolong it. Phase advance is the opposite, where we have to sleep before our normal body clocks are telling us to.

A good case here is Recht, Lew and Schwartz hope this helps you

I'm stressed too, we're all stressed lol. Just do what you can tbh. If you can't do much today, work bloody hard tomorrow.

I'm just so confused about this, psychology is basically memorising a ton of theories/explanations/studies and then looking commenting on it.

I'm cross-referencing from my CGP book and my text book atm.

Can anyone suggest what they think might come up for relationships, eating behaviour and gender development?

i did anomalystic and schizophrenia for my January exam and found them a hell of a lot easier than sleep/eating/aggression! with absolutely no revision, i got a B in the exam.. think i did pretty well! for the 9 marks, i'm sure it's the PEE structure, Point, explanation, evaluation
You need to give me tips on scz and anomalistic then, please!

ok, if you need to evaluate it, how much do you write because wouldn't evaluation get you more marks and so make it a 24marker. Or wouldn't it ask to "discuss" or "describe and evaluate" instead of just "describe"
    sorry being annoying...:/

For relationships, everyone thinks it will be maintenance or sexual selection (as the two topics have not yet come up), with lesser predictions for parentalinvestment/childhood/culture (if AQA decides to surprise us with a previous but not recent topic).

Eating behaviour predictions have been all over the place, but neural mechanisms were Jan12 and the biolog/psychol explantions named disorder (eg anorexia) came up recently. Have a look back through the thread, predictions have been mentioned in nearly every post ha

for relationships neither maintenance nor sexual selection has come up yet, and they've yet to repeat a question so they could come up - but then again they could always repeat something. really hope it's sexual selection. i hate influence of childhood and influence of culture -_-
